There's no room for more states. In fact we've got too many now. We need to get rid of some. I propose redrawing the state lines as shown below. Alaska is still Alaska. Hawaii can be part of ISLAND state, we can throw Porto Rico, Guam, The Virgin Islands, whatever, in with it.
