Hey! I worked at a video rental store. I didn't have to rent them, I could borrow videos for free.

That's just because of antimale, misandric attitudes. If it were a peahen, they'd have let it on.

Re: Occam, Trump, and Russia

I wouldn't want that either, but that's one reason I'd never run for president, among many.

Maybe not Russian government collusion, more likely shady business deals with the Russian mob.

Re: Occam, Trump, and Russia

Yes. But what is there to be a baby about? He acts like there is something to find. Further, explain the behavior from Nunes and the other members of the House. Explain why they're attacking career FBI agents who are largely reportedly republicans or were appointed by republicans. We know also that ...

Re: Occam, Trump, and Russia

I’ve seen no real evidence of anything material. This looks more like the whitewater travel gate thing than watergate. OTOH the deep state conspiracy is complete nonsense. True, but the reactions to the continued investigation seem suspicious. Over and over, the White House and House Republicans be...

Re: Science is hard, let's eat soybeans

I think , from my inept research thus far, that it has something to do with the 11s and 7s proteins. (The s is a sedimentation coefficent, and I have no idea what that means.) Tofu made with a higher 11s/7s ratio is firmer. Most other beans have a lot of 7s proteins and not a lot of 11s proteins. M...

It's a down note, unlike Avengers. They win, but at a cost. Similar to The Emperor Strokes Blacks.

Re: Science is hard, let's eat soybeans

I have a vague memory that soy produces much higher amounts of protein than other beans, that might be the answer to Ellie's question, as opposed to, say, producing a particular type of protein not produced by other types of beans. Looking at Wikipedia (instead of finishing packing to move across th...

Re: Science is hard, let's eat soybeans

S, or Svedberg (sp?) units are measures of sedimentation during centrifugation. I don't remember the details of calculation, but heavier molecules sediment out of solution more quickly (i.e. requiring lower centrifugation speeds and/or less time being spun).

Re: Science is hard, let's eat soybeans

I don't know the answer to Ellie's question, but fermentation is a degradation pathway for energy extraction. Fermentation doesn't produce proteins. When yogurt is produced, fermentation by bacteria produces acid, causing proteins in milk, primarily casein, to denature (unfold), and to agglutinate. ...
