Re: paranoia check

I spend my time worrying that I die when I sleep and someone else wakes up with my memories each morning.

Re: Gentry from the block

Most of these people are not low income. That's the gripe. This is a cohort which is easily above qualifying for any assistance, but cannot find housing, largely because (I'm told by community organizers) you can either make $1000 a month and have to deal with renters, or $700 a week with a credit c...

Yeah it is, lodging, dining, and retail are like 70 percent of local revenue, almost all from tourists or second home owners.

Re: Gentry from the block

In my hometown, the service industry workers are stuck in a donut hole where towns won't allow density or anything that mars the perceived New England image, and everything else is high end homes and rentals. I'm hearing about people who are homeless, but who don't lack reasonable means, they just w...

They aren't called 'beauty vests'.

I used to rock a milsurp 6x10" canvas shoulder/belt pouch for those kinds of occasions. More pockets in a garment isn't really the answer unless the question is "Am I a fly fisherman?".

More bothered by this than the gun thing. This is their wheelhouse and this is the abandonment of the notion of civil liberties in that arena.
Yeah the gun thing was just to frame that thought.

Re: Petty annoyances

Oh, I actually think that it's kind of coming from the other end: profit, not cost, has changed. When you get 3x revenue (and far more profit now that the supply chain is digital and not disc-based) from the same investment, why change? But I think that indie games will continue to provide innovatio...

Re: Petty annoyances

And the hardware scene is lame right now because prices are high and there isn't anything super exciting on the horizon. Possibly GTX 11xx-series GPUs, but Computex just ended, we had a meh games preview at E3 where the only news was that publishers are Doing The Same Thing But Harder. HEDT CPUs are...

Instead of complying with severely limited carry-on requirements, I'm going to wear a huge overcoat and rig all my belongings to the inside, maximizing my personal space, creating a physical barrier against my neighbors, and allowing extra room for souvenirs in my bag on the way home.

And my doctors name? Jonas Salk. I'm sorry, the correct answer is $350.00 if they take one of the discount cards. Discount cards are almost always bullshit. Manufacturers coupons/discounts are where it's at yo. Seriously. They will take the insurance/out of pocket co-pays rather than miss a sale. H...

If I rent my commercial space from a person who donates to gay conversion camps, would you boycott my business because that's their income stream? I guess I don't know how people draw the line. Question for people who support a boycott: Are we morally responsible for what a person or company does with the money that they earn from commercial transactions with us as customers?

What degree of financial separation is required from bad actions?

I like McCain. I liked when he shut down the "Obama is a Muslim" lady at his campaign event, and I've liked his responses to Trump so far. I have disagreement with him on a lot of issues, but I think that he does have a lot of principled positions that I can respect him for.
