Re: No touching! - sexual impropriety thread

Generally the first allegation is followed pretty quickly by a bunch more. Not with Keillor. Reporters haven't even been able to pry out details of the original allegation. There's got to be more to this story. Either Keillor did something worse/more than he claims or his accuser is up to no good. A...

Re: No touching! - sexual impropriety thread

One heuristic that's held up pretty well in all this is that these guys never do it just once. It's been a couple weeks and there's been no report (anonymous or otherwise) of a second victim. It doesn't prove that he's innocent, but it's a reason to be suspicious and wait for more, rather than treat...

I thought the only gryllpropriate stance was that tipping is economically inefficient and servers should only get what the owners want them to get.

Re: No touching! - sexual impropriety thread

If Moore gets elected in spite of Franken and Conyers stepping down, I think some of my lefty friends will go completely over the edge. We're talking full-on hospitalization. The hardest thing for me will be figuring out which lefty friends I have to say "What they did to Franken was TEH WORST THING...

Re: Occam, Trump, and Russia

In one email dated June 14, 2016, Goldstone forwarded a CNN story on Russia's hacking of DNC emails to his client, Russian pop star Emin Agalarov, and Ike Kaveladze, a Russian who attended the meeting along with Trump Jr., Trump's son-in-law Jared Kushner and Manafort, describing the news as "eeril...

They have to. Sacrificing Franken is surely, in part, a desperate play to claim high ground against Moore. I'd love to assume it's all just principled opposition to what Franken did, but come on.

Manafort's like the opposite of Burn Notice.

"My name's Paul. I'm still a spy."
"Yeah, one day this happened: *Russian voice* 'We got a Burn Notice on you; you're black-listed.'"
"But even though I'm burned I'm still working."

So, you don't support him but you do think his unique traits make him better than the alternatives, and you don't want him removed and replaced.

In political terms that is awfully close to support.

Re: Zack Snyder's Slow Motion French Fries: the DCEU Thread

Some friends talked me into going to see Justice League. It's a C+ movie, but if we're grading on the DCEU curve it gets a B+. Heroes aren't the most interesting ever but aren't terrible either. Action scenes are OK. Dialogue isn't grating. Villain is totally generic.
