Re: States-ism

50 current US states + PR + DC + 10 Canadian provinces + 31 Mexican States + DF + Cuba + Virgin Islands (all as one) + Venezuela = 97 states, also a prime number.

Re: States-ism

There's no room for more states. In fact we've got too many now. We need to get rid of some. I propose redrawing the state lines as shown below. Alaska is still Alaska. Hawaii can be part of ISLAND state, we can throw Porto Rico, Guam, The Virgin Islands, whatever, in with it. NEW US.png You young'...

Re: Orange is the new President

Having lived inside the diamond for half my life, I always think there's a bit of question begging on what is 'the federal enclave' (Fun fact: there was a plan for a bit to reincorporate the Pentagon reservation back into DC just after it was built) Eta places like Guam, CNMI and American Samoa are ...

Good thing that officially per the Constitution, the Prez isn't involved. New States may be admitted by the Congress into this Union; but no new State shall be formed or erected within the Jurisdiction of any other State; nor any State be formed by the Junction of two or more States, or Parts of St...

Despite Trump's best efforts, I still don't feel bad for Jeff Sessions. https://www.reuters.com/article/us-usa-immigration-sessions/sessions-limits-u-s-judges-ability-to-dismiss-deportation-cases-idUSKCN1LZ2TG I've been thinking more and more that this is really just a PUA neg game. Re: Kulturkampf? In my NFL? It's more likely than you think. Football 2018

Yeah, it's been a farce forna while. Luckily for them, they declined just as the NFL was getting lax about blackout rules, so it was all able to be covered up with plausible deniability. In seriousness, what is genuinely remarkable is that they sold over 20 thousand fewer tickets this openning day t...

If you think that I hold up loyalty to the state and its rules as over-riding the prerogative to live as one wants, you need to go read this thread . But the question of how individuals should weight and decide on courses of action is very different from the question of whether it makes sense to ab...

Re: Worthwhile intertubez finds

There's a few cases where Crawford is looking at things that, to me, is at an odd angle, and I don't think some of his premises are right. The role that the upper-tier university soon discovered for itself, upon the collapse of ideals of liberal learning, was no longer that of training citizens for ...

The Potomac is already flooding the Alexandria waterfront at high tide. Depending on which watershed this winds up sitting over, it may take out some of the boathouses like that one stalled storm did in the late 80s (when it stalled over West Virginia and really mucked things up there)

I've really come to dislike takes like that. It totally denies the agency of those that actually committed the crimes, or otherwise made things awful, in whatever country the United States is supposedly responsible for breaking.
