This is just speculation, but I'm pretty sure they had the contigency to bring Osama back on the helicopter, but were given a ROE that made offing him a likely decision.

They took back some of his wives, didn't they?

Re: Inequality

If early farmers had it worse than hunter-gatherers then why did they choose to farm? Were they already in large enough groups that a chieftain could force it upon them? Or was it possible that there were real downsides but even bigger upsides? I think it's the farmers outbred the hunter-gatherers.

The victims of insider trading may never get justice, but at least we can be confident that whenever a cop chokes someone out on the street, or a prison guard rapes an inmate, or a reckless prosecutor sends an innocent person to prison for decades, or the CIA tortures prisoners of war, or the VA do...

Re: Trump's Bogus Argument to Deny Green Cards and Citizenship to Immigrants who Play by the Rules

The scientists who built the atomic bomb in WWII spent the rest of their lives on the public teat, either directly as employees of the weapons program and/or state universities, or slightly less directly as private university researchers with federal grants and federal consulting gigs. And so did m...

Re: Orange is the new President

My best guess is that 'The Situation Room' is actually a series of rooms - a real high level scif (like where you saw the gang watch the Bin Laden raid), a general purpose executive meeting room (which is probably cleared for Secret), and an anteroom or two where people can do admin stuff and standb...

Re: Our Friends, The House of Saud

This situation must be understood in the context of Saudi and Islamic culture. Any Arab leader, particularly a young one who has recently assumed power in a traditional and mostly tribal society, has to carefully maintain his and his country’s stature and prestige, what classical Muslim scholars ca...

Like, it's likely Manafort would have still be living his best life if he hadn't become the center of the political universe. And it's more that peculiar and particular form the Mueller investigation has unfolded than the fact that he was very prominent for a couple of months in summer 2016.

Yeah no spark so not running.

And my place does set aside some time for classic/project cars. Also apparently 1970s now count as classic.
In Virginia right now you can get antique plates for any car built before 1992.

Like for instance that cop that is in trouble for shooting and killing that Bundy standoff guy is not in trouble for actually shooting the guy, but for not doing everything right afterwards.

Re: Orange is the new President

Trump runs his administration more like a mob boss. It certainly looks bad, and clearly it's not very efficient and often a chaotic mess, but that's just how he likes to do things. It's idiotic but I don't see it being criminal or some kind of shadowy cabal. Maybe its different for the high poobahs...

This is MBS's lack of maturity and maybe thinking the Trump style works 1) on the world stage 2) when you're not in possession of the most powerful military in world history.

An alternate take is that the Trump administration discovered and prosecuted a sexual predator who was hired under Obama administration policies. Your job interview is complete, you now have your choice of writing for the Federalist or the Tucker Carlson show. https://a.playmoss.com//uploads/images...

At Dulles yesterday, you didn't need to take off your shoes or empty your pockets. Which would have been useful to know before I did that. Because they also withheld most of the plastic bins; you had to put your metal and your electronics in your bag. Ugh. The inconsistency drives me bonkers. Flew ...
