Re: I may want to see that?

Nobody engages in hitler reclamation projects - but that shit happens all the times with leftist monsters starting with Stalin. Yeah, the problem in modern society is not "there's too much widespread socially-accepted support of Hitler and too extreme damnation of Stalin." There's the right damnati...

Re: To Infinity War and Beyond: the MCU Thread with Spoilers

Civil War is near the worst of them. The central conflict is contrived and the major plot points near the end made my eyes roll down the street to get a beer by themselves.

Re: Masculinity, so fragile

The "old wisdom" being what, "it's cool to rape a chick as long as you marry her when one of the kids you father on her crawls up and sucks the splinter out of her finger and she wakes up?" It was helpfully explicated by one of the Reddit commenters: in Sleeping Beauty, the masculine represents civ...

Re: I may want to see that?

The Communist murders were also far less thorough --the gulag for all its horror wasn't an extermination camp. Jews in Soviet Russia and Commie Europe in general certainly had a bad time of it with some of them being murdered, but Communism never tried to systematically wipe all ALL of them the way...

Re: I may want to see that?

Woo that guy murdered and starved and imprisoned a lot of people guys. He's at least the Dan Marino of totalitarian murderers and I give him no credit for intent. His inadvertent starvation is just as bad as his deliberate actions. If we are playing hypotheticals, does a hitler win preclude a stalin...

Re: I may want to see that?

I would look askance at the nature of the thing Russia became after being "saved". In the sense that it was a sovereign political entity, I guess. In the sense that the things of value were preserved? Hardly. It became a horror show.

Re: Masculinity, so fragile

The explicitly political can't be art comment is just stupid full stop. It is fundamentally incorrect and whatever he might have been trying to get at, that's what he said. He didn't take issue with commercial art, he took issue with the message, which seems to make him pretty awful? Again, I haven'...

Re: Occam, Trump, and Russia

I thought that was quite useful. I have a friend who is relatively close to warrants in non FISA environments who was pretty insistent this was something that'd get a prosecutor actually arrested. Now, I suspect that view was formed by taking Nunez at face value, (i.e. there was no disclosure at all...

Re: Masculinity, so fragile

Agree, but the overall vibe I get from descriptions of Peterson in this regard goes something like - and pardon my gendered shorthand here - "the social constraint on M-M violence operates differently / is a lower magnitude thing than the social constraint on M-F interaction such that men are disadv...

Re: Orange is the new President

People who assert "complex social thing is definitely X all the way down and it's so obvious people asking questions should themselves be castigated" are not sophisticated in their thinking about that issue. There are too many variables to be that confident period.

Re: Masculinity, so fragile

What’s a representative thing of Petersen I could read to quickly get a gist of his actual perspective. Part of the problem is you mostly have to watch him, not read him. I seriously recommend the piece I posted upthread. I read it. Aren't people taking issue with the characterizations in there tho...

Re: Masculinity, so fragile

I think it naive to believe that the party who can inflict harm and the party who historically can’t see the reality of underlying threat the same way. Lots of people may think about suing as resolution to conflict but put those two people in a car or away from public eyes and ask if a reasonable wo...

Uh, I don’t know if there’s a comparable fruit. The flesh is super squishy almost slimy pods. Really ripe ones are eaten like custard with a spoon. It tasted like rotten fruit in the same way papaya can but stronger. I dunno how to describe it really.
