Re: OFFS: The Forsakening

That meat will not be cooked to USDA temp specs, no. 165F is a joke and a set of chains. I separate raw protein from non protein cutting and I wash knives and board yes. I wash my hands after handling raw but not really at any point after that unless I have oil I want to get rid of. To be for real h...

I hate them. I don't understand what they are supposed to be doing. When people talk about nice shoulders, a window that shows your humeral head framed by fabric is not what they are talking about.

Re: Occam, Trump, and Russia

I dunno about better but the behavior is inconsistent with the “owned by the kremlin” narratives. You have to really stretch to make that fit.

My wife texted me from mall of America a series of increasingly frustrated shopping anecdotes. They eventually got so bad I suggested she go back to the hotel and sign up for Stitch Fix or similar immediately. She’s the best use case they could ever hope for.

That modicum is even adjusted on a curve for con people. It's a teeny tiny modicum, far less than normal life situations might require.

I thought some of the battlefield blood clotting agents were introduced early in the Iraq war under something like this i.e. bypassing the FDA. (Though I think it also turned out that the quick tourniquet was a better mechanism when that could be used) 6 is obvs in a better position to comment but ...

Re: cars and how they get that way

I'm a person with robust opinions on many subjects so I'm always surprised with these things that stir passions but I'm like meh. Like weather - I find it odd how many people can't seem to tolerate variability in seasons and will spend huge dollars to have a retirement in an always sunny place. This...

Re: This is the thread for people who died, died.

I find myself above average sad about Scott Hutchinson of Frightened Rabbit. That band has been since like 2008 the right sound for certain of my headspace conditions. I kind of secretly think he was one of the better songwriters of the past 20 years or so. He was brilliant at imagery and conceit. I...

Phantom Menace in the middle of the pack is nuts. I will admit I can't remember distinguishing features of any of the prequels - it's all CGI overload and awfulness and jar jar.

Re: Powerful Mice in Space (The New Star Wars Gripe Thread)

It was a bit above meh, which means its better than all the prequels and Return of the Jedi. Empire, then New Hope, then maybe Rogue One, it's somewhere right after those. What? RoJ has it's issues but it was a far better movie than TLJ. Let not get blinded by Ewok hate here. I would also add I thi...
