Food

General rule of freezing units of things. Freeze them without letting them touch during the process. Use a sheet or a plate or something, or use wax paper between stacks of things. After frozen you can store in bag while touching. Shitty frozen shrimp - one big lump o shrimp. Good frozen shrimp - ea...

Re: Food

After listening to the Coloradans on here brag about it, I made Colorado Green Chili with tomatillos and Anaheim peppers from my garden. I specifically grew the tomatillos just for this dish. I was also excited to learn that Hatch peppers are just another name for Anaheims. And I already had Anahei...

JFC what happened to Tapatalk in new iOS? I can’t get it to feed me just the most recent unread topics. It takes a while to find it, but it's there. Go to Groups, click on Grylliade, then click "Discussions" in the bottom menu, then scroll the top menu to "Unread" and click that. Fortunately it rem...

I am not a huge fan of opera, but the vocals in this video are incredible:

Diana Damrau as "The Queen of the Night" from The Magic Flute

That's just unreal. Wow.
That's nutty. Man. Dang.

Re: GET OFF MY LAWN!

Not exactly what I meant. How to describe. The following is not technically accurate but a gist of the issue. Imagine all the sound coming through a single speaker. There are different kinds of sound, like explosions is one thing and ambient car noises on a street another, music a third and dialogue...

Re: GET OFF MY LAWN!

Yeah the guys mixing the sound are acting like you have a single speaker where they can direct most of the dialogue, so when your system doesn't do that the effect is mumblemumble.

Re: GET OFF MY LAWN!

I find myself wondering in 2017 what percent of homes actually use a 5.1 or higher setup as opposed to a soundbar or some such. I mean, I'd guess it's like 10% maybe, which is super odd given that most content you get from DTV or cable or netflix is coming at you mixed for 5.1

Re: GET OFF MY LAWN!

I haven't found a good way to deal with it in a non 5.1 center channel set up though. I did bookshelf speakers for a while and I use a Sonos bar now, but it is still a thing in some shows. I think Sonos is smart enough that if i get 2 satellites plus the bar it will use soundbar as center channel an...

Re: What's New at the Bijou?

It was jarringly loud in our theater, like to the point of painful wife covering ears, when those vangelisy harsh notes hit. I loved it but wish it was dialed back in the theater just a hair.

See ... some of that yes, some not so much. Part of the thing here is the common story about assumed rationality is a bit unfair to how people actually think about rationality in the market place. It is no part of anyone's economics that cash flow in the present has no rational value. Good friendly ...

I like Thaler. His work is in danger of becoming the quantum mechanics of Econ. It is very robust in some contexts, and very hand wavy in others.

There's nothing positive in the vision at all. There's anti-elitism, deregulation, tax relief. Not that much will come of any of that, but the same can be said of the deplorable stuff too. Also HRC is by far the more deplorable. If only because she could accomplish more deplorable things she set ou...
