Re: A Game of ... THEY KILLED WHO?!?!? (hbo spoilers)

They should have made hay sooner. Season 5 - That’s after 2 entire seasons of torturing a dude into sub human status and showing us the whole thing, right? I know there were plenty of diversions like dad setting daughter on fire and rapes and such too, but still some might suggest there’s not much t...

Interesting test of what show claims to be vs what it actually is - thematically speaking. It claims to be a thing about breaking the wheel vs taking it all and damn the costs. I stopped watching because I came to believe what it actually is is a complex tapestry to set up nut punchy meat grinder e...

Re: Home $weet Home

So I haven't done mortgage shopping in 10 years or so. Are any of the online tools worth a damn (they weren't 10 years ago)? Any killer app for lending compare or is it still filter to a few and haggle over stated rate vs. fees included APR and points and other nonsense?

Re: Home $weet Home

Found a house we like quite a bit. Size right. Geothermal already in place. Close location wise. Substantial hunk of change but doable - we’d have to carry two mortgages for a bit because our current place not ready to sell yet. We are sleeping on it but might move. Big money decision. This is cons...

It’s averages of the total home stock, so newer construction is almost all bigger but at the national level.

Re: Familiar spirits

Joe has been kicking for like 6 months in a way unlike anything we'd seen before. We had to pull him out of his stall because he'd damage it. First pass was we found ulcers and treated those, but the behavior persisted, then progressed into the field not just when we tried the stall. Not angry ears ...

Re: DOOM! (Insert extra Os as you see fit)

There's a bunch of economic indicator salad in that thread. The cost of housing across generations is the one that particularly drives me insane. "The National Association of Home Builders reports that the average home size in America was 983 square feet in 1950, 1,500 square feet in 1970, and 2,349...

I’ve said it before when he was on Slate, Isaac Chotiner is an amazing interviewer. He gives his subjects enough rope to hang themselves and doesn’t ask showy questions. BEE: Did she say that? That she didn’t know she was black? IC: You say it in the book. BEE: Yeah, right, I quoted her. https://ww...

I know what the political rules are for impeachment. I’m not talking about what can be pursuedI’m talking about what is wise to pursue. If your bar is low I think you are being unwise.

Re: Putin on the Writs

I agree with the information being released and its utility in making a political decision. I think we disagree and have explicitly done so in the past about what should be pursued as grounds for impeachment and removal. In our system, different from the no confidence / new election design of parlia...
