Re: If We Build It, They'll Probably Still Come

I don' want to go all apoplectic derangement syndrome over something small, but booing citizenship ceremonies, a la Thoreau- what fucking planet is this. That's like like hating cat videos or something. Makes me feel like the number of things everyone can agree is a moving and noble sentiment is dwi...

Was Season Five of Firefly any good in this timeline? Because in my timeline it sucked.
I don't know, in my timeline Inara, rather than the police, responded to my many, many letters to her with an "Of *course* I'll marry you" so I haven't left my our bunk to watch tv in years.

And considering our current climate of false flag conspiracy mongering mixed with incompetence, I have no doubt that at this very moment some genius in the president's circle is coming up with a plan for a Tijuana Boat Lift.

Thanks for the tips (unfortunately we both can't stand celery, and I'm not as into potatoes as I used to be) and validating the idea of throwing them in at the end. Ended up putting mushrooms and carrots in part way through, and at the end veggies under the broiler 'til they developed a little crisp...

So, crockpots... I'm deciding on a chicken recipe for tomorrow... my wife is allergic to onions and bell peppers, so I'm always trying to think of what kind of veggies can be thrown into a crockpot without them turning into baby food. I like the set it and forget it nature of crackpots but I'd like ...

Goddamnit, this is just plain mean spirited... I'm just really troubled by this trend of not just playing with immigration numbers and visas and official immigration policy but of mean spiritedness on a personal level. Like with the blanket travel ban interfering with cultural and scientific co-oper...

I like CICGC when they have a genuine funny/real moment in between the tedious shots of coffee. Sometimes you can tell that, like in a talk show, Jerry sets up bits of stand up routine for the guest, which grates on me. It's been a while but I recall liking the David Letterman one. Haven't seen it i...

More than the language mistakes, what cracks me up is that almost none of the pictures match what they are talking about. If you're bragging about how luxurious your leather seats are, you might want to show those instead of what looks like part of the door.

There's gold in them thar paranoia... San Diego Sheriff’s Department deputies, fearing large-scale protests over the construction of President Donald Trump’s border wall prototypes last fall, logged more than 10,000 hours of overtime in a three-month period before and after project construction. I've noticed lately a few intersections where the walk signal turns a few seconds before the light goes green. Gives the pedestrians a bit of a head start so cars can't just gun it thinking they'll beat the pedestrians to the middle.

A linguistics professor was lecturing to his class one day. "In English," he said, "a double negative forms a positive. In some languages though, such as Russian, a double negative is still a negative. However," he pointed out, "there is no language wherein a double positive can form a negative." A ...

I'd be happy if they let game hens on board. Preferably with olive oil, salt, pepper, and rosemary.

I think "stinky tofu" is fermented, while regular tofu is just curdled.

Dang, would have had a nice reasonable 20 if I'd managed even just the median (3) on number 3, but that one took me 10 (by the end just guessing until I hit the word).

Had a High Water Brewing "Sugaree Maple Bourbon Pecan Pie". I'm generally skeptical of beers that try to be too fancy pants, but it tastes like what it says on the tin. Pretty good actually.
