Re: Have you accepted Nothing as your lord and savior?

What amuses me is that according to the plate we are all under that one guy. It kinda shows the folly of pretending that religiously neutral references by the gov’t to a generic god are actually religiously neutral.

Re: Music for the Masses

I feel like there's only so many colors even a good pianist can get from the mechanisms involved (though I would not say this in earshot of a pianist, who would no doubt take issue). So to my ears everything sounded too homogenous. You need to listen to better piano players. The piano mechanisms ev...

Re: Music for the Masses

I know this sounds weird, but does anyone else have similar opinions about the piano or other instrument? I used to feel this way about the piano, mostly because I feel like there's only so many colors even a good pianist can get from the mechanisms involved (though I would not say this in earshot ...

Re: And Then There Were Four (The Impeachment Thread)

Seems like it would be fun sport for congress to try and fuck him out of a book by squeezing him in a perjury trap. I guess subpoenas nowadays are merely ignorable suggestions, but if there were a way to get him testifying under oath he either has to fess up or subject himself to charges of perjury ...

I confess it made me more angry than amused. But if I'm honest it's probably just because I'm annoyed with myself for not getting it sooner.

Speaking of processed cheese, Speaking of processed cheese, the americans winning at euro-cheese made me wonder why there isn't such a thing as blue cheez whiz. At a gig a long time ago where we took turns providing food backstage during intermissions, I put out a couple of the spray cans of cheez ...

Re: Inequality

I just think it's disingenuous to imply that violence is the natural result of anything and not something that requires human action. If progressives think violence is an acceptable solution to inequality, they should own it, and if not, shut up about it. The pointing to the right wing stockpiling s...

My problem is less that these people want to be forcibly disarmed, and more that they're the same people who call the NRA and GOP terrorists for using 'violent' language. Oh but to them they aren't using violent language or advocating violence, they're just sayin' this is what happens when you let ...

They're the people who loudly demand to be disarmed by the state, funnily enough.

I just saw a post about Luther's 95 theses, which were first posted on October 31, 1517.
Just imagine how different history would have turned out if the humbugs inside the Wittenberg Castle church had just ponied up the candy. Or if Luther had just egged the church like a normal person.

There's absolutely no difference between the sexes until it's time to get an antique cupboard up three flights of stairs. I find the phone listings are best for that. And how often to a couple of hardworking gals show up when you call? That gives me an idea for a short film. But it involves three w...

There's a reasonable conversation to be had about how valuable/necessary those attributes are and whether alternative values can achieve similar or better outcomes, but assigning them to a specific gender either descriptively or prescriptively ignores nuance and fact for the sake of a simple cohere...

I'm confused. Osita Nwanevu says it's his latest column in the tweet but it's written by Lindy West*? Or did he mean to say "latest example" instead of latest column? Cause that would actually have at least the possibility of making sense. *the same woman that wrote the basis for 'Shrill' on Hulu, a...

Has anyone watched El Camino ? Any spoiler-free comments? I'm not sure I really care about of the remaining characters in the Breaking Bad world. I like Better Call Saul because I like Bob Odenkirk and it has Mike, but a post BB show won't have either of them. It's basically fan service. It doesn't...

And I'm sorry if I missed it, but what accompaniment were you playing there? I play viola; they were hiring a backing orchestra each stop on the tour. Townshend did some windmills, Daltrey twirled the mic, and the audience had a good time. As much as I'm skeptical of nostalgia acts it's hard to begrudge everyone having a good time, and like everybody else they were an important band to teenage me so I was ecstatic to be onstage with them even thou...
