Re: Tiny Triumphs

You guys measure accomplishments differently than in Colorado :D Oh definitely, and I'm heavily modulating for the shape I'm in, as I haven't done this kind of thing in a couple of years. I previously spent summers hiking cascades in southern and central Oregon (Thielsen, McLoughlin, Bailey, Bend a...

Re: Tiny Triumphs

Hiked Mount Jefferson in the New Hampshire Presidentials yesterday. JFC that kicked my ass hard. So... much... boulder climbing... Much tougher than I was led to believe ("the trailhead starts from a high elevation so the car does most of the climbing" and "sure it's steep but It's only 2.5 miles")....

Re: Petty annoyances

I admit I use the term "airlock" as the entrance to my house from the driveway, even though it is technically a vestibule, because if we don't open/close one door at a time and one of our dogs gets through both, Good doggies know how to properly operate airlock. giphy-8.gif 13/10 More compelling th...

Re: Petty annoyances

Did they mean that kind of thing where there are two sets of doors with a little space between them to keep cold/hot air from blowing into a large institutional space? I never really thought of that as a foyer. Huh. It would be amusing that I'm critical of declining vocabulary while mis-using a wor...

Re: OFFS: The Forsakening

Seems to be the thing now with progs to mention Falling Down as the epitome of white male entitlement. I really don't remember being that into the movie except the bit about no longer serving breakfast. Is it really that controversial to be against fraud? In a previous 'hood I started out trying to ...

Re: Petty annoyances

Went into the university library looking for a machine put money on a card to use the laundry machines. Person at the desk directs me back to where I walked in "between the sandwich doors", or maybe it was "sandwiched between the doors", not sure. I was rather baffled for a moment but walked back ho...

I just like the wording of the definition google gave me, more colorful than just "too bad".
the situation is regrettable but now beyond retrieval.
Which accurately describes "taint piss", whatever one imagines that to be (*shudder*)

Re: What are you drinking?

I'm back in NH and trying out N.E. beers again. Discovered Hidden Cove Brewing (Maine) Summer Ale. This is an outstanding proverbial lawn mower beer. Refreshing but has some flavor with just the right subtle light touch of wheat and citrus and hops in nice balance. 4% alcohol so I hardly feel anythi...

Well, you gotta cash in on those failed dreams from the 90s when you can. Especially with a bad song that half talks about how much of a failure you've been.
Yay Croatia! nice to see a small country (that didn't exist until the 90s) underdog have a great run.

I can't believe there are people who claim that show wasn't funny.

It could have been the weed, but I swear the most mind blowing desert I ever ate was microwaving an apple fritter and topping it with a glob of Caramel Cone ice cream.

Thank god Croatia pulled out the win. Fuck those lame ass quasi well-isn't-that-convenient non-cheaters. They got the easiest group, the easiest bracket in the round of 16, and beat Spain only because of a non call on a penalty ( hmmmm ). It's remarkable how thoroughly trashed Russia's reputation is...

Re: tio's neato nature thread

Speaking of buzzards, a friend of mine had one landed in his yard and vomit. Concerned about his dog getting into it he went out to clean it up and he says it was the most indescribably foul stench he had ever encountered, like death times a million. He couldn't bring himself to get close enough to ...

Also, they need to knock the gimmicky timeline crap off in season 3. It's becoming Shyamalanesque at this point. One shouldn't go to the same well too many times. I was willing to give them the benefit of the doubt for this season because it mimic's Bernard's memory scramble so there's at least a p...

Re: Random Observations C.A (306 pages is enough)

Apparently Astronomy.com is getting comment posts from THE FUTURE.

They want to tell us how all this space-time fabric stuff works and they can't even keep their own website free of rifts and leaks. Sad.
