Re: A Game of ... THEY KILLED WHO?!?!? (hbo spoilers)

Since the writers don't seem interested, we can cobble together our own finale with bits from all the other shitty finales. In the final battle for the throne, Samwell has hidden Gilly in the library, where she has to choke their son to death so their position isn't discovered. Cersei turns out to b...

At this point sure why not. If I'm not going to be entertained with excellence, entertain me with ignominy.

Re: Inequality

When this comes up over at boingboing the answer is always “hey, we’re not advocating violence, just sayin’ if you want guillotines that’s how you get guillotines”. They would *never* allow that defense in any other context. It’s either “you can only push a man so far” or “you’re *forcing* me hit yo...

Re: Tiny Triumphs

After my 2011 MacBook pro’s magsafe connector got progressively fiddlier until it wouldn’t charge anymore, I came to the conclusion that it likely wasn’t the two month old charger, it is probably that the contacts on the 8 year old lappy had worn down. (usually contact problems are on the connector ...

Google has been trying as hard as possible to eradicate SD card storage from android. It was a stopgap solution in the first place and causes significant problems for the user experience. Phew, so it wasn't just my wife and I. I was excited when she got a phone with that feature (in contrast to me ...

That's because FIFA is now a 'Live Service', not a game. It's so pernicious that the EU has banned a bunch of microtransaction and gambling/loot box features in the new FIFA series. Sorry to tell you this, man. This has been happening all over the AAA game space. It's almost impossible to just buy ...

Sneak them into San Diego in the middle of the night. No one should be on the streets of places like Denver or Seattle in the winter. You're right, but could y'all send some money along to help? Homelessness has been exploding here. Used to be mainly downtown but in the last couple years have sprea...

Bran is the Three Eyed Raven, he holds the memory of man. To erase Bran is to erase history. This strikes me as too vague to give it any significance. The way I see it to erase Bran is to erase having someone around who can dart back and forth in time and witness and influence things first hand. Th...

Thought it was good. Good dread, good pacing. The opening charge seemed like stupid strategy but was dramatically excellent. Only thing to me that sucked was, once again, the named characters being protected, people like Brienne and Jaime and Sam you'd see getting for sure murdered and then miraculo...

Re: A Game of ... THEY KILLED WHO?!?!? (hbo spoilers)

That episode was total filler, 90% of that would have been cut if we'd had one regular-sized last season instead of two shorter seasons. Is there such a thing as gratuitous character development? That's what Arya's and Gendry's roll in the hay felt like. Unless she gets pregnant from that, in which ...

Re: Idiocracy is here

It's a combination of the natural paranoia built into Christianity* along with a large dose of "removal of a privilege feels like oppression".

*many christians *want* to be given the opportunity to suffer for christ. I think it's the weirdest thing but it's definitely a factor.

I could swear I've heard that phrase my whole life. Makes perfect sense to me. I stopped watching a few seasons back, because while I don't mind major characters getting killed - in fact, it's an interesting twist - And the fact that this was a twist that disappeared by season 7 made the show much less interesting. Knowing that certain characters are "protected" always kneeca...

I also hope they don't try too hard with Sir Bronn's possible assassination mission. It might seem like dragging up old grudges that at this point are dwarfed by larger concerns but I think it's one of those essential data points in Dany's story arc of facing the challenges of being in charge rather than a rebel with nothing to lose as she was in her Dothraki/free the slaves phase. ...

What I find most interesting is the addition of the "report spam or abuse" flag. Do they *really* know what that's going to take and how ...
