Re: A Game of ... THEY KILLED WHO?!?!? (hbo spoilers)

As I mentioned on Wixenstyx's Facebook, I've never watched the show because I wanted to hold off and finish the book series first. Joke's on me. At the rate Grr Martin's going, I doubt even your kids will be able to read the books first. MAYBE some future grandkids, if Grr lives long enough. Assumi...

Re: Of course I've got a blog. Who doesn't?

It's stupid, but I think it's a stupid lack of hypocrisy. They want to vastly increase the power of government without lying about it like the Reds, and they have real cognitive dissonance with the fact that Reds are and will be in power. Except, "hypocrisy" is not le mot juste for whatever the hel...

Re: Of course I've got a blog. Who doesn't?

In light of O'Rourke and Buttigieg's calls to inflict mandatory national service on young adults, I pointed out that, for all that left- and right-wingers both have far too many unprincipled partisan hacks, at least the right wing is generally smart enough to only call for increased government power...

Also, I've spent a long time reminding myself- don't feel bad for Sansa, she started the whole thing. But at this point I think I'm rooting for her- she's the only one that seems to care about the practicalities of logistics over the glamour, intrigue and flashy weaponry the other contenders have. ...

Re: A Game of ... THEY KILLED WHO?!?!? (hbo spoilers)

It might seem like dragging up old grudges that at this point are dwarfed by larger concerns but I think it's one of those essential data points in Dany's story arc of facing the challenges of being in charge rather than a rebel with nothing to lose as she was in her Dothraki/free the slaves phase....

So .... am I the only one who was a tad disappointed by last nigh's season premiere? After seven seasons spent arranging the pieces on the game board, I thought they'd actually start to play, but instead they just did more rearranging. Well, they did have to do a lot of table setting / dinner guest...

http://www.fox5dc.com/news/texas-lawmakers-consider-the-death-penalty-for-abortion AUSTIN, Texas - State legislators stayed up well into the morning hearing emotional testimony about a proposed abortion ban. House Bill 896 would criminalize abortion and classify it as a homicide. Women who have abor...

Ugh. So what can you use to wash your skin? The ancient Romans used olive oil, but I imagine that would get expensive.

FWIW, I used to really like various glycerine soaps, but fell out of the habit of using them primarily because when I lived in New England, a certian job lot outlet ALWAYS had glycerine soap super-cheap. Once I left that area and no longer had a steady supply of cheap glycerine soap, I switched to D...

I've even gotten to the point where almost all the time I'm washing my hair with conditioner and nothing else. [ Self-righteous nod ] That is as it should be. Except you should remove the word "almost." But, seriously: what is wrong with Dove bars (especially compared to actual soap)? Do you have a...

I feel about Nielsen's leaving the same way I felt about Sessions' -- yeah, they're both evil people who never should've had legal power in the first place, but they weren't let go for any of the reasons WE think they should've been let go: they were let go because they weren't evil enough for Trump...

First MASSIVE thunderstorm of the season last night. On the bright side, it washed away most of the pollen -- I'd almost forgotten how the majority of cars in my parking lot are colors OTHER than dingy yellow!

Huh. Last night, while Jeff was at work, I sent him a description of the problem, and a photo of my two monitors.
