Re: It's not the size of the screen...

Started catching up on AHS: Cult and am wondering if I'm a bad person because I immediately hate Sarah Paulson's liberal lesbian character and am rooting for the anarchist clown terrorists.

Re: Food

Jad is correct, a fridge is typically a drying environment. It's why they have drawers specifically for produce which are protected and controlled against the larger environment. A head of lettuce on a shelf is gonna wilt a lot faster than in one of the drawers. The coldness speeds staling due to th...

Has anyone ever had luck with those ultrasound things for mice & such? Jasper, they are pretty much fer sure pregnant. And how do you get them to hold still while you squirt on the gel? And what if you get an ultrasound tech who is scared of mice? I don't think thats going to work ;^) It may be man...

I found the character development stuff in the beginning and end the best part. The whole action-y rescue mission in the middle was crap.

Re: Food

It's officially fall even though the weather is still summer-warm, so we busted out our crock-pot last weekend too. Did a "Cuban in my mind" thing with a pork roast rubbed liberally with salt, pepper, and red pepper flakes, sitting on top of chopped onions, baby red potatoes, a whole head of garlic ...

Re: The son of "What the hell are YOU staring at?"

You're asking about my reaction to the revised version of what he wrote, not my reaction to what he originally wrote, which is not an analogous comparison. If he wrote that he was tired of seeing all these gay oppression movies, my reaction would have been the same. If what he's actually tired of i...

Re: The son of "What the hell are YOU staring at?"

I see what you're saying. What I'm saying, is I wouldn't have minded the oppression stuff if they got the math and science right. I don't mind civil rights as a genre. I enjoyed Selma, as it gave greater depth to the story I knew. Figures didn't provide any further insight. Likewise The Help was a ...

Musings - there were reportedly 15.4 million instances of ID theft & fraud in 2016. US pop is about 320 million. Records of half were breached. What are the odds you are going to get hit with ID theft/fraud any given year? I'm not saying it's OK to be careless. I'm just wondering where the line betw...

I think I know what's wrong here, in Jennifer's view. If you have two guys buying two identical houses for $500k each, and one manages to score a wicked 1% 30-year fixed-rate, and the other has kinda spotty credit and gets a 5% rate, now despite getting the exact same thing for the exact same amoun...

Pressure Cooker is THE MARKET for making stock. I got over a quart of high quality gelatinous pig stock off one shank bone in under three hours. No more all day simmering for half ass 'it's kinda stocky' stock for me. Do the whole business from prep to clean up in an afternoon from now on. I find t...

Re: Podcasts - Watcha listening to?

I've started listening to FSCK Em All by T. Greg Doucette. He's a crim defense lawyer that reminds me of Radley Balko, but with a bit more attitude. Unlike Radley, he offers several nut-punches a week, commenting on crim justice cases and politics in general. I've only listened to a couple, so I do...
