Re: Solar Eclipse/End of the World 2017

Well this worked out kinda shitty. I'll be in Castle Rock CO this weekend for the annual Lost Weekend getaway with my old gaming buddies. My flight home leaves Denver at 11:40 AM Monday, which is exactly when Denver gets over 90% totality. I ain't gonna see shit except darkness out a tiny scratched ...

Yeah, I think an underappreciated dynamic of this is that this is, if I'm not mistaken, his first 'real' job outside of academia.
Oh geez. Yeah. Noob. Helluva costly lesson.

Re: Observations of the Random sort

Damore made the post on a board for posting about company stuff. If you're allowed (or encouraged) to discuss the topics of the day at work, it's pretty shitty to say that you are only allowed to talk positively or that your opinions aren't correct enough to be expressed on company time. If you ask...

Re: The F Word

Say a doctor eats a sandwich. They get a stomach virus from a spoiled condiment and are unable to go to work that day. Consequently, a patient does not get an abortion that day, and the next day the patient is over the legal threshold and it would count as a late-term abortion, prohibited under sta...

Some people grow their own tomatoes and peppers in summer, some grind their own peanut butter. There are certain food 'projects' I like to undertake once in a while even though it's hella easier to just buy it at the grocery.

For the record I would get the nonstirring kind of it didn't have sugar in it. I don't give a shit about organic or natural or whatever. check ETA But did you notice that a tablespoon of the natural kind has more calories than the sweetened kind. Calories are fine, but my "regime" is to avoid added...

Re: The F Word

I'll say this. I'm much more impressed with the idea of affecting whatshisname's ability to speak for libertarian organizations than I would be with trying to smear his name in the face of any employer whatsoever. (I think this point has been made previously by others.) But of course, how do draw t...

Man, tough crowd. Guessing no one here watches The Detectorists? I enjoy it *because* it's slow and pastorale. It's a nice break from all the "edgy". I haven't tried it yet but it's in my consideration set. I'm into slow and pastorale. Netflix used to be so much better when it had All Creatures Gre...

Re: The F Word

So people agree that doing what you can to prevent someone from getting a job is an appropriate response to speech you don't like? I'm pretty sure ENB could've gone much farther in preventing this guy's current and future employment if she wanted to. It seems to me like you're claiming that because...

Ehhnn... Guy was an asshole and 100% dick. I don't think ENB is 100% dick here. Neither do I, but she's being at least 50% dick, and if she's lecturing 100% dick, she should own up to it. It's understandable that she overreacted, but it's an overreaction. Totes agree. Just making a general comment ...

Darken it up a bit and make it fuzzy and you got yourself a photo of a genuine flying saucer.
