Re: I just don't get it

I can take or leave a player PiP. For me, it all depends on if they seem... genuine, I guess? I mean, I'm watching a person play a video game, ffs, so I'm already in lala land. But there are folks who come across as just loving the game, and others who just seem to play to the camera and their audie...

Re: OFFS: The Forsakening

Here's a completely incoherent bit of nonsense that was published in the Opinion section of the NY Times. The author starts by positing that we're going to have a post-scarcity economy in the future, then says that the only reason we have scarcity is capitalism, then says that the obvious way forwa...

If you're not tired of dark, gritty, euro-noir mysteries yet, Black Spot (Zone Blanche in French) is pretty good; on Netflix.

Re: Masculinity, so fragile

That's an interesting take on it but I wonder if it's missing the impotence angle. Not clinical impotence, just the lack of power they have, and especially feel, in this world. They can post a thousand times all over the internet and Facebook and still feel like they are a drop in the ocean. Their ...

OK, yes. Makes sense; the 'other-ing' component of the incels' dysfunction makes them worse.

Like, murderers vs. suicides. In some cases, literally.

Re: Masculinity, so fragile

Question: Are young women who starve themselves, obsess over make-up videos, and get a lot of plastic surgery also pathetic losers? Victims of the patriarchy? Mentally ill? I'm happy to concede that these male incel types are, at a minimum, misogynistic assholes that view women simply as objects exi...

In fairness, Norwalk is less of a shithole now and is getting nicer.
Opposite problem now in Milford, it seems. Cramming apartments and condos into traditionally working-class single family neighborhoods because affordable housing quotas set by the state get to override the town PZC.

I'd laugh if the hackers had released the lockdown after 24 hrs. and all those bills and fines had been marked paid.

The MIC doesn't want us to go to war against anyone who can reasonably shoot back. The only people who came out badly in GWOT are the guys who make the M1 ??? Are you talking about the M1 Garand? I thought that went out of service decades ago. Sidebar: A local gun shop raffled off a near-mint Garan...

If the Macbook is charging and otherwise working properly, the right thing to do is delete that photo, forget it, and whistle a merry little tune every time you boot up.

Not exactly that much viking. I just meant a substantial table that fills some space mead hall style. BOOOOO! Shoulda just said trestle table, man. Got my hopes up! I like the grey better. We picked a 'pre-distressed' trestle table for the den in the FL house to fill some space; a big, driftwood-y,...

Re: Fishing for analogues

It would seem to me, on first speculation, that fishing societies would be similar to hunter/gatherer societies, since you're essentially hunting fish in the sea. From there it would seem like you'd have to define parameters for the hunting & fishing frameworks regarding if you're talking about noma...
