Re: Observations of the Random sort

Watching some software training vids narrated by someone who sounds suspiciously like Baldrick hosting a TV history series, and he's said a couple times "double tap" instead of "double click", and I think I'm going to start saying it that way.

Re: Pick Your Poisson

Aww man. I'm going over an SDS for a new cosmetic pigment we want to use at work, and in the Toxicological section, there's a long list of rabbit and rat testing with results.

I know we need to do this, but it still makes me sad.

Re: Video Games!

Another pretty decent older game series is the Gothic franchise. Fantasy RPG in a fairly open-world setting.I enjoyed I & II and made it about halfway through III before getting sidetracked with something else.

Finally watched it this past weekend. Great movie, and I definitely got a chuckle with that as well.

Yeah...

If I saw that, I'd go back to school for 20 years learning astrophysics, nuclear physics, and engineering. Just to be sure.

Re: tio's neato nature thread

I just saw a Phidippus audax , the "bold jumping spider", in the little backyard behind my wife's shop. I saw a chunky black and white spider, so I took a picture of it, and only when looking at the picture later did I realize the spider had iridescent green chelicerae. Just saw one of these little...

Yeah, I'm a KFC lover first, but I also love Popeye's and also Team JasonL/Hugh. I haven't had fried chicken at all since before the lockdown and as of this minute it's my most-missed thing (I just got back from the lake!!!!!!!!) I find that Popeyes actually has the best android app of fast food re...

Truth.

Last year we tried Bojangle's chicken on the drive back north from FL, based on recc by Greg Doucette, a libertarianish lawyer with a good twitter feed that a few of you already seem to be familiar with.

Popeye's is better.

This wasn’t mealy-mouthed ‘we oppose racism’ stuff though. It was like straight-up calling Trump deranged. Something you’d hear Maddow say on her show.

Re: When journalism goes bad

Just a general question, really...

We left CNN on long enough last night that Anderson Cooper came on.

Has he always editorialized for the first 5 - 10 minutes of his show? I mean, I was under the impression he was supposed to be a tough but fair journalo.

Re: It's not the size of the screen...

If you're looking for some creepy Twilight Zone-esque sci-fi The Vast of Night movie on Amazon is quite good. No jump scares or other cheap stunts, just a slow inexorable ratcheting up of a kind of eerie tension. The direction is quite bold. I'd even say gutsy. If you just wrote out what happens in...

For what it's worth, the guy who had the police called on him is pretty ambivalent about the course things have been taking. He stops short of "leave her alone," but he does say "parts of this are overboard." He seems like a generous and decent person. He's a birdwatcher, ferchristsakes, and a blac...

I see. As it ripples into real-world, and maybe inflicts social or political pressure, it makes sense to at least know where it originates from. I can understand the interest, even if I don't have it.

I have literally no idea what this is about and I'm not sure how happy I should be about that. The ends of the axes are Mencius Moldbug (founder of Nrx), Nick Land, Bronze Age Pervert, and Kantbot. Oh, Tampopo is a wonderful film.

If you want more Japanese food porn with little story vignettes, look up Midnight Diner. On Netflix.
