Re: Observations of the Random sort

There's maybe only a dozen subreddits I subscribe to, but of those, I can't tell who posts more pictures, r/guns or r/breaddit. Folks really like to show off their bangers and baguettes.

I wasn't kidding! I was 100% serious, you nailed exactly what happens.
I read you as totally sarcastic! I honestly had no idea it ended like that. Holy shit.

Oh c'mon... for a franchise as well known for its liberal-progressive slant as well as its silicone forehead alien of the week, that would've been completely awful, and also funny.

7 of 9 was an amazing fictional character with one of the best back stories and character arcs in all of science fiction. Jeri Ryan portrayed her with grace and style and just the right amount of uncanny, all while tight laced in a corset, high heals, and vacuum packed in her "space suit". This is ...

My wife is a PhD biologist, libertarian-feminist, non-believer, and chair of the science department at her girls-only Catholic high school. She's also an alum. Who wouldn't want their daughters being taught by her? Oh, I know. State bureaucrats and the public teachers' union since she doesn't have a...

As someone who likes to think he's a rationalist, materialist, and skeptic, I'm enjoying the hell out of Hellier , an apparent Youtube series that's now on Prime. At first I thought it was going to be more like a 'lost footage' thing with this paranormal investigative team getting tipped off to some...

By contrast this weeks 5th Col. (ep 167) with guest Noah Rothman, was a highly intelligent and well informed back and forth on Iran. At least for the first hour, until Moynihan showed up when it instantly went to shit.
Totes agree. Rothman's arguments gave my a lot to mull over.

Ehn. I still think that if you're, by law, limited to a 15% max margin on setting your market price, it's still a price control no matter how much you pad your costs. Because it's possible it'd still sell for 20% margin or more in a free market.

The point I don't think anyone else has mentioned is that raising the box springs and mattress off the ground on a frame opens up additional storage space. It's been a running joke in our marriage for decades now that we still don't have a headboard for our bed because we could never agree on one, ...

I'll pour one out for the demise of the long-tail programming on Netflix as well. However... I do appreciate that their "original" programming includes a lot of foreign shows and movies. I was on a bender for dark & gritty crime dramas set in the UK & Scandinavia for a while, and Netflix was willing...

Yeah, any of the gums you'd want to brush-off dry because most are high-viscosity hydrocolloids and will turn to sticky snot if you just get them damp. If they're already that way, then scraping it up or copious amounts of water will be needed. Except for gum acacia; that one is low viscosity, and i...

I haven't used a conveyer checkout in a year probably. I'm twice weekly but small loads grocery guy for the most part and I always use self checkout.
