Cannibalism tho?

They're not the same species. Or genus. Or family. Or order.

That's cannibalism in the way a human eating a rabbit is cannibalism.

I'll probably get hung from a lamp post by the Neo-Jacobins for it but it'll be worth it.

I guess I just want the world to burn these days. That or I've become even more apathetic to politics than I ever thought I could become.

https://www.firstthings.com/web-exclusives/2019/03/against-the-dead-consensus The Dead Consensus sounds like a cover band I might go see. Yeah but it's really weird when you get there and it turns out that they're an REO Speedeagon cover band. I would probably stay for Take It on the Run and Ridin ...

Re: Inequality

Did captains of industry really ever rub elbows with commoners in the town square, dampening the anti-social isolating effects of wealth that we see in gated suburbia and door-manned skyscrapers? I bring it up just because that seems to be the goal, to create the sort of communities where the rich ...

Yes, foreign languages should begin being taught in elementary school. That said, if you want to drastically cut down on college applications (which I do) while giving a well deserved advantage especially to bi-lingual Spanish speaking college prep students (but any widely spoken language will suff...

Re: What are you reading?

I finished The Tunnel about a month ago and then re-read the first 100 pages to see if they made any more sense. They did, but the first 100 are by far the hardest. After that, the blend of memoir and never-ending griping becomes easier to follow. Now I'm halfway through my re-read of Gravity's Rain...

I think there have only been two 100-degree days this month, and there might've been more days in the 80s than in the 90s. The forecast for Memorial Day is under 80 degrees. This is probably the nicest May since I've been living here.

Re: What's New at the Bijou?

I love NR movie reviews. They are so bonkers that reading them makes me feel like I'm high even when dead sober. Like this Aladdin one is especially bonkers . It's one part "Will Smith as genie is bad because he is evocative of Uncle Remus". But, Uncle Remus is actually good so Disney should re-rel...
