Re: Trump's Bogus Argument to Deny Green Cards and Citizenship to Immigrants who Play by the Rules

For me, I worry every time I travel to or though the US that some USBPS person is going to decide I am suspect for some reason and I Wil get 'Red Flagged. Rationally, I can't come up with a reason why they would, but I still worry about it. A friend's son just got 'Red Flagged a few weeks ago becaus...

Re: Random Observations C.A (306 pages is enough)

I would like to sit down, privately, with Alex Jones, and have a Frank conversation with him about what is and is not appropriate for a television entertainer to say and do, and about the existence of ethical lines that one should never, ever cross. "Frank", of course, is the name of my weedezater....

Given the rate of women dying in childbirth, I would think most women would be pretty leery of peasant or hunter-gatherer times.
Modern medicine is a main reason I prefer even the 'Age of Trump' to just about any time in the past, even so little as a decade ago.

As for the 'short days of hunter gatherers, that does apply to th actual food collection, but they had to move around a lot, with many days spent just going from place to place on foot. Lifting in temporary shelters wasn't great, either. This depends on the group and the local conditions. My unders...

I'll just say that I understand the instinct to deplatform, but the who gets to decide thing is the whole thing and it is too scary to entertain, plus I do think that it is at a basic level healthy to have those voices in the open and responses to them constantly in the mix. It is very much my sens...

Weird, I thought the saintly socialist union agitators of the early twentieth century were responsible for the forty-hour work week. Doesn't that prove it's good? This. You have to wonder what history the guy read to come to the conclusion that a work-week of 40 hours/week was 'unnatural'. For most...

I'm actually proud of my baklava. It was taught to be by a little old Greek lady who made me swear never to record the recipe anywhere. It has to be passed on person to person. If I ever attend a gathering, I'll make some to bring. Good baklava is hard to find. The best I ever had was in a little f...

My view is that some politicians are less dishonest than others, and that's a good reason to see some as lesser evils, but all of them need to be monitored.
This is a stance I'm fine with.

Distrust of the political class probably does encourage corruption, on the margin. Because why shouldn't our guy get his? Corruption almost certainly encourages distrust of the political class. I agree it is a self-reinforcing cycle, which is why it is more important to demand that the elites follo...

Re: Random Observations C.A (306 pages is enough)

WRT to the banning of Alex Jones from a variety of social media sites, I wonder how many people (on both sides of the argument) have reversed the positions they took when the Koch brothers pulled funding from PBS over the anti-Koch documentary.
