Why has no one brought up that now what will happen is that the insurance companies will sue the government for money that the law says the government is obligated to pay. Everyone focuses on the fact that Obama was broke the law by distributing unappropriated funds, but similarly, Congress broke t...

Re: Orange is the new President

Nate Silver puts Trump's approval ratings under 38%. The trend has been steadily downward from the mid-forties shortly after his inauguration. Based on that, he is in landslide loss territory, but I suspect that a certain degree of sportsbar TEAM stuff would add to his numbers. The thing I note is ...

I get (some) of why people were initially into Trump. But I definitely don't get how they still are all in...what is the continuing appeal? Is it purely ego protection?
To go Marxist, I'd say it is the Lumpenproletariat. Trump is their kind of loud-mouthed boor.

No shit. An ex-girlfriend of mine, who worked in the movie industry, actually had a sexual-harassment story about him. I am surprised not one iota.

Just almost got hit by a cyclist who didn't think stop signs applied to him even when his view of pedestrians entering the crosswalk was blocked. Jennifer- section 4 can be invoked by the cabinet. They don't have to wait for congress to act. In that situation, all he has to do to un-invoke it is to send a letter to Congress saying "hey guys, I'm still the Pres, lol." Then, they can un-un-invoke it by sending another letter, at which point Co...

Even without counting Bharara, the Trump White House is churning like a Wall Street Boiler-room. I can smile at the dysfunction and be satisfied that little will really be accomplished, but it means that the administration is going to continue to lurch unpredictably. I think the measure of how dysfunctional the Trump administration is is how many people have left already:

I cannot think of any administration that has reached this level of entropy so quickly.

He didn't even do that. He shouted "hot pizza" while traveling at 20 MPH.
I saw that. I cannot figure out where the notion of shouting "hot pizza" came from and why that is supposed to mean something to the non-initiate.

I did not pay a great deal of attention to the news during my recent trip to London, but from the little I saw, it is finally dawning on the Brits that the Europeans intend to stick it to them hard on the way out.

(And there's not a great deal the Brits can do to prevent it.)
