Hong Kong and the Future of Freedom https://www.nytimes.com/2019/06/13/opinion/hong-kong-protests-trump.html I share his distaste with Trump not giving a fuck, but I find myself wondering what he thinks it matters. A very different president was in office when Tiannamen Square happened, and what ca...

Shared on Facebook by my mother-in-law: HOW I FEEL ABOUT TRUMP You've been on vacation for two weeks, you come home, and your basement is infested with raccoons. Hundreds of rabid, messy, mean raccoons have overtaken your basement. You want them gone immediately. You call the city and 4 different e...

I am not a gamer, but even if I were I can't imagine anything duller than watching someone else play a video game for other than instructional purposes.

These people were mad at me and had the temerity to ask me to get fired for speech I disagree with. I dislike their views, so we should ban their speech and kick them out of the country. https://www.frontpagemag.com/fpm/273966/disband-students-justice-palestine-and-all-bds-jason-d-hill Jesus Christ...

I would not be surprised if Amash lost the primary. If he does, the Michigan 3rd District is going to be (D).

Re: Iran (so far away)

The thing that makes it stand out as fishy is the fact that one of the ships that was attacked was headed for Japan and Abe was in Iran. At the very least it seems ill timed and the closest it could possibly be are Houthi rebels. OTOH, KSA makes more sense. How dare you suggest our noble, moderate,...

Re: Iran (so far away)

It just seems so transparently obvious though? I haven't dug down more than headlines but what possible motivation does Iran have for doing this sort of thing? Flase flags have to be plausible. I can see an argument that the hard-line religious types in Iran would benefit politically if the US was ...

Re: The Right Way to View Competing Political Horrors

This is just an intergenerational formulation of the free rider problem. Whether I benefit from somebody else having kids is irrelevant. I don't think "tax breaks for people with dependents" is a "free rider" issue, anymore than letting people deduct medical expenses from their taxes is. And I have...

I'm more or less Cowenian on growth. It's the greatest engine of suffering mitigation ever to exist on the earth and by such a large magnitude, if you do something you know will cost a half percent of growth to mitigate some near term unrest, you own that suffering over the long term. You have beco...

I cleaned the kitchen floor this morning. Unfortunately, I had run out of cleaner, so I used a tiny amount of Pine Sol (2 capfulls). Now the whole downstairs stinks of that stuff. Ugh.

If course, we don't know how many pre-Internet spree killers and mass shooters were people we'd recognize as incels.
