Re: You Learn Something New Every Day

"cherophobia" - Cherophobia is a phobia where a person has an irrational aversion to being happy. The term comes from the Greek word “chero,” which means “to rejoice.” When a person experiences cherophobia, they’re often afraid to participate in activities that many would characterize as fun, or of ...

No, this is the part where a minority of the lower house of a state legislature can't even pass a non-binding resolution in a chamber their party controls to prevent the casting of electoral votes that the other side doesn't even need. This is about as far from an apocalyptic final battle as you ca...

Re: Voting methodologies

Term limits would not be an issue and lifetime congressmen would be less of a problem if Americans were not so locked in to party identifications. The House of Commons in Canada has a membership turnover around 1/3 every election. (It can go higher in 'landslide' years.)

As a practical matter, the Soviet strategy might have also been to let the scientists keep working, get answers, and then steal the results. WRT fusion power, the Soviets made great progress with the early Tokamaks, but hit roadblocks. In desperation, they brought their work to a conference in the ...

Top Iranian Nuclear Scientist Killed In Attack My bet is the Israelis did it. It may be 'merely' to handicap Iran's nuclear development*, but it could also be an attempt to involve the US in a war with Iran before Trump leaves office. *My take on that is it will only make the Iranians even more det...

1) How many of his cronies will he pardon by noon January 20, 2021?
2) Who will he pardon next?
3) Will he pardon Jr.? And Jared? And Ivanka?
4) Will he attempt to pardon himself?

I agree with JasonL. Whether or not you think the average voter is an idiot, there is something seriously wrong if a fuck-up like Trump gets 47% of the vote after the past four years.
