I'll tell you what I don't understand slash hate is the drop shoulder trend.
Is that the same as the cold shoulder trend that's been around the last year or so?

Re: NaNoWriMo!

People in NYC are insane about NaNoWriMo. There are a million meetups for it, and it apparently has gotten very cliquey and there is a lot of drama and infighting. I'm not sure why but this amuses me greatly. Same! I got into it early on, maybe the fourth year (they're up to year 19 now) so I'm tot...

The Princess Bride is 30 years old.
My boss made a Princess Bride reference at work last week.

My younger co-workers not only didn't get it, one of them said "What's the Princess Bride?"

Re: Tiny Triumphs

I'll hit my one year anniversary at work tomorrow. Given my most recent 7 years, of employment history, this is impressive for me, and I'll take it. It's hard to hold jobs with/after mental and substance abuse issues and enough of a stability (though never perfection) to make it here a year, with a ...

I hope so for your sakes. Also, IIRC, isn't east of the eye the least-bad part of a hurricane, where wind speed and similar things are concerned? If the eye passes well to the west of you, that's about as good as you can hope for, outside of being missed altogether. Less wind, more rain. So it even...

The page you linked says to make a report of identity theft. They could be more vigilant by requesting additional information to confirm identity of requestor before revealing credit scores or other confidential information. Also, creditors, knowing of the breach, can ask for additional proof of id...

Why did he shoot the armadillo in the first place? It's a slow, dumb animal, it wasn't threatening anyone. That guy deserves the bullet in the jaw.

ThredUP is terrrrrrible. So I can now confirm this firsthand. As with all things, I should have just listened to Rachel. I was looking for a particular kind of pants on their site, and the only ones that came up were in size 2, so I browsed those just to see what the description was, even though I'...

Apparently a day of eating nothing but pepperoni and a half jar of peanut butter (#noshame) can dehydrate you the same way as a night of heavy drinking. I woke up with a legit hangover today -- headache, queasy, the whole nine yards. Annoying indeed. I can't believe my beloved peanut butter betraye...

Here is a more "feel good" abortion article (if there is such a thing): https://www.nytimes.com/2017/05/20/opinion/sunday/abortion-people-whove-had-them.html And it reminded me to donate to The National Network of Abortion Funds because they actually need the money way more than Planned Parenthood d...

I love this part: ""She probably has trouble deciding what shirt to wear to school," Mullins said. A 12 year old who is being repeatedly raped by an adult relative has much bigger problems than what shirt to wear to school. They want to focus on how immature she is and how she clearly couldn't possi...

I switched from the Editor to J Crew's Minnie which has since been discontinued and I will never recover. Mine are still holding up okay though. I used to love the Editor pants, but haven't gotten a new pair in years.

My favorite pants are actually The Limited, which just went out of business, so I may have to go back. Banana Republic is overpriced, and Gap stopped making their dress pants, which were surprisingly perfect.

I don't understand why anyone would buy regular Oreos in a world in which Double Stuff Oreos exist. Like, what's the point?

Also peanut butter is gross, and peanut butter with Oreos sounds disgusting.

I can see a lot of different sides of this, but what I think it comes down to is people aren't robots, or numbers, or statistics. A people are also different from each other - wired differently if you will. Not everyone is built to work an 80 hour week and not burn out almost immediately. But I thin...

In decreasing order of likelihood, here are the ways I think the nation no longer suffers a President Trump: 1. Medical reasons, e.g, a serious stroke or heart attack, 2. Assassination, 3. He loses in 2020, 4. He resigns, who cares why, 5. The 25th Amendment is triggered by something short of numbe...

But the thing that both the cultural guardians and the prophets of infinite possibility have in common is that they're looking at you through the beer goggles of survivor bias and telling you that you're just not trying hard enough. So far my experience with Amazon Same-Day delivery is that it is not that thing. I've only ordered a handful of same-day things, but all of them made it to my house by 9 pm (just barely, though). Hm, all my same-day delivery things have been clockwork. But I live in a densely populated area. Write ...
