There are lots of modern Orthodox women who cover their hair and get very creative with head wraps. Then when someone drags you on Twitter, you can accuse them on being anti-Semitic! Because that also always works out well.

Re: Calling 2024 for AOC
By my address, AOC is my congressperson By my voter registration, which I stubbornly refuse to change, Josh Gottheimer, one of the only Jews in Congress is my representative. I voted for him twice. The only way I would change my voter registration is if Josh is a sure thing next election, and then I...

yo my xy droogs what is a good brand or outlet for women's sweaters that are a) warm b) reasonably well-made c) workwear appropriate and d) a good value for the dollar? turtlenecks and mock turtlenecks are fine as the workwear can be a 70s feminist professor vibe sans chunky female symbol necklace....

Re: Petty annoyances
This was my morning at my new apartment: Furniture guys announce there arrival by leaning on the buzzer (later find out that this because they don't have my cell phone) and not stopping, which made me get flustered and I rushed out of my apartment...without my keys. Ok, so not a huge deal, the super...

Re: Home $weet Home
After many iterations of "living with roommates I found on Craigslist" I have reached the pinnacle of NYC existence - being able to afford my own place WITHOUT having a significant other. For a (very) brief period I harbored an idea that I wanted to move to Upper Manhattan, but it's super inconvenie...

Re: Thanksgiving: the most delicious time of the year
I am: 1) Team "Turkey is delicious" 2) Team "Why the fuck are you putting marshmellows in sweet potatoes?" There is some mild drama going on with my mother and her anxiety affecting her judgment about where Thanksgiving should be held/what should be done for Thanksgiving. Therefore, I have not comme...

I got on a bus leaving Port Authority at 3:45 yesterday afternoon. 7 hours later I got off the bus. It was one of the worst experiences ever. Our bus driver was completely heroic in his driving. We got stuck like 4 or 5 times. There were so many accidents and cars stuck or spun out along the Turnpik...

Re: Vote or Die
Normally I would vote Libertarian in usually decided Senate race, especially since Murray Sabin is running and he was for legalizing weed way before it was cool, has been hopelessly running for office for many years, and 19,000 years old. But I really don't want Bob Menendez to lose his seat to Bob ...

I got a blowout today for the first time ever and it’s pretty amazing. My hair is totally straight and flat and sleek like I could never do myself. It was for a work thing and I totally feel like I dressed up like one of the sales/accounts girls for the day. I'm intrigued. So it's better than flat ...

Re: Ladyfashun
Apropos of nothing, the other day when I used a mirror to look at the back of my head (to ensure that my ponytail-barrette wasn't crooked), I realized the end of said ponytail was looking really shaggy: instead of being a more-or-less straight line, it made me think of stalactites hanging from a ca...

There’s a lot of giving unwarranted grace to political actors. It’s not kinda almost a good idea if we can figure it out it’s a bad idea in its bones. Business existence at the whim of regulators is bad bad bad. Write a law call it a crime to violate it prosecute individuals. Improve sanction regim...

I cut my hair. It had to be done, because it was full of split ends, but I went too short (for me. it's still pretty long) so there's not enough weight too it, and it requires work! Also I'm old now, and need glasses. I picked out pairs of frames, because I actually have vision insurance. 10 years a...

I'm spending the evening chugging Franzia box white wine, eating a huge bag of Cheeto Puffs, and watching Kong: Skull Island. I'm eating Tate's double chocolate chip cookies (the ONLY double chocolate chip cookies I will eat, because they are thin, and crispy, and kind of not-cookie like), some pop...

I hate the cold shoulder trend. It's been around for awhile now and it's just so wrong. Especially when combined with bell sleeves.

Re: Water, Water Everywhere
I hate water. I've become better about drinking it at work since they got a literal water cooler, and cold water is easier to force myself to drink, but I mostly hate it.
I do, however, have an addiction to plain seltzer. I drink it by the case.

It's basically how we got W. If the Clinton administration was as relatively squeaky clean as Obama, Gore would have won in an HW level landslide. LOL We got W for the same reason we got Trump, Gore was singularly awful. He lost his own state furchristsakes. Clinton's foibles had nothing to do with...

I think you're right about a tech lift. I think a protocol designed for analog, human speed use is probably reaching natural limits now that we can robo dial for practically nothing. But I wonder, if there's actually nothing that can be done, why aren't businesses being spammed as hard? Their numbe...

Re: How's the weather? v. 1.1
The useless NYC mayor called all public school closed for tomorrow around 7:30 PM. This means my office is closed. "Those who can work from home, should work from home." However, because of my job classification, I'm not allowed to work from home. I feel like a little kid for how excited I am to not...
