Like being kidnapped for a Bitcoin ransom! Speaking of which, don't leave the house anytime soon. I'm on my way over with some zip ties and a blowtorch, and I don't want to have to wait around for you to get home. ;)

Cool! There's a name for it! I see this all the time in municipal government, but I've never had a nice, short descriptor before. Thanks! :)

Re: DAYLIGHT SAVINGS TWICE ANNUAL GRIPE THREAD

Jake's argument might have some merit but this: "How many hours "off" is London time? Are they ahead of us or behind us?" Is stealing a base to make it seem more complicated. *shrug* Those are the steps I go through, because I can usually remember that I'm eight hours off of GMT, but I don't call o...

But it makes it easier to communicate with people in those areas. Like I know if I call someone in London at 8PM London time, they're not going to be in the office. But at 15:00 everywhere, I have to do a lot of thinking. The things you need to know to call someone in London under the current syste...

In the next few days, I should hit 60 pounds down from where I started. Admittedly, tinkering with my body's settings to select "Easy Mode" may have robbed me of some of the satisfaction of succeeding at something that's super difficult, and ahahahahaha I can't finish that sentence. No ragrets.

And really, it doesn't matter what time the clock says to any of us, only that other people expect us to do certain things within a certain range of numbers on the clock. So it's not a clock problem, it's a people problem. I'd be fine with One World time, since then everyone would know exactly what...

For those of you in the pro-Oreo camp, a life pro-tip: Get your glass of milk. Get your Oreos. Get a fork. Stab the fork into the Oreo filling from the side of the cookie. Now you have a convenient handle, so you can dunk 100% of the cookie in the milk and you don't get your fingertips wet. Changed...

I'd like it very much if more people would take the "well, that's not really my cup of tea, but I'm glad you've found something that you enjoy" stance.

Apparently, that's just not How Things Are Done.

Re: Cruise missiles; hold the missiles

Way to bury the lede...what is this raffle strategy? When I get the tickets, I crease them lengthwise, unfold them, and re-crease them widthwise. Then I give them just a bit of a crumple, so they no longer lie flat. When the raffle-can-holder shakes the can, the non-flat tickets tend to rise to the...

Cruise missiles; hold the missiles

So last December, my wife won a raffle at the company Christmas party (I take some credit for this, 'cause I showed her the winning raffle-ticket-strategy for small unprofessional drawings). And we ended up with a four-night cruise to Mexico, which we're taking this December. We'll be leaving from L...
