Re: Home $weet Home

From watching the video, I have but one question: how much and how often do you enjoy mowing? 'Cause I see a lot of mowing for a future owner.

Re: You Learn Something New Every Day

Paging Jadagul (or anyone else who happens to know the answer to this riddle): I bought another linen shirt a couple of days ago -- this one of thicker material than my "extreme hot weather" linen shirts, so it's going in my "temperatures that WOULD be comfortable, were it not so cloyingly humid" p...

And Monty Python is absurd because instead of a chicken it's a fish and they slap each other with fishes one of which is fucking huge and knocks the dancer into the canal.
That's all the excuse I need!

Re: When life gives you Yemens

You've gotta admit, though, if you want your time in office to look like the Golden Age of America, you've just gotta do two things:

1) Follow George W. Bush.
2) Precede Donald Trump.

All else will be obscured by the divine light radiating from the Halo of Not Being Either of Those Guys.

Re: Petty annoyances

You would think that being gamers my roommates would be better at dishwasher Tetris. It's like they had a garbage can full of dishes and just dumped them in the dish washer, closed the door, and let her rip. Unsurprisingly there ends up being dishes not fully cleaned. It's strategic. They've read t...

Re: Legalizing Marijuana and Gay Marriage Seemed Impossible

I remember the old H&R arguments about it. The correct position (in my not-so-humble opinion) always was: Yes, government should be out of the marriage business. But as long as that's not the case, gay couples should have just as much right to marriage as straight couples. John and a legion of troll...

Re: Does Elon's Musk stink?

I'm in L.A. right now for the annual National League of Cities "City Summit" conference, and today Elon Musk came to speak to us. He actually seemed less weird in person than his public/online persona would suggest... or maybe just more *understandably* weird. When L.A. mayor Eric Garcetti asked him...

So why does Finland exist?
It's so sadly neglected and often ignored. But it's the country where I want to be.
I don't have much to contribute to the man conversation, but I just want you to know, Thoreau, that this reference did not go unnoticed. Finland has it all. :)

I'm fervently anti DST.* And I make too big a deal about it. :)

EDIT: Actually, I'm anti the switch back and forth. Pick one -- either one -- and stick with it. Everything else is a deadweight loss.

Mirrors? And that has the extra bonus of making the room look bigger, and therefore making messes look bigger, thus compelling you to clean them up when they're only half as big as they look, thus making the cleanup time take half as long as expected, and thus making cleaning up messes less miserab...
