Re: Orange is the new President

So what happens if we invite Russia to join NATO? Something bad, I assume? I don't know enough about the topic to identify what the likely bad thing would be.

Person A: I'm hungry. Let's get something to eat. Person B: *having been through this before* Cool. Hop in the car; if you come up with a place you want to go before we arrive at Place X, we'll go where you want to go. Otherwise we're eating at Place X. A: But I don't want to eat at Place X! B: Then...

Re: Gentry from the block

The low-income families in the luxury high rise thing is just another stab at the "we need people to rent out more expensive homes at cheap prices" side. The plan goes like this: Step 1: Make it impossible (or nigh-impossible) to build a luxury high rise without some percentage of low income units. ...

Ah. So it's "The world should never change and the neighborhood I grew up in should remain the same with the corner store and Saturday matinee cinema just like it was when I was a scamp roaming these streets". I have no patience for that. How does something that nonsensical become policy? Because t...

[ Skims article ] I wonder how Land's "women's suffrage caused welfare states" theory accounts for Bismarck's founding the first modern welfare state several decades before German women got the right to vote? Suffrage has ripple effects in both directions through time. Don't you know anything ? ;) ...

In the most extreme case, we should perhaps nationalize Steam, to hold it more accountable in this legal sense. Sure, dude (not JD, but nameless quoted dude). Because what you really want is for the Trump administration to decide what games are okay for people to have and what games aren't, is it? ...

I enjoy Rocky and Bullwinkle stuff. I enjoyed the movie, despite the fact that I fully expected it to suck, so I'm going to give this one a shot at least. If I'm disappointed, I'll mentally throw it down the memory hole and go blissfully on my way.

(Now that I think about it, that would actually be an amusing and interesting collection.)
