Re: Orange is the new President

This is an interesting take on Trump as the latest in a line of Perotistas and Buchananites who misidentify the problems of the white underclass as much as the Democrats do: http://www.nationalreview.com/article/452910/white-working-class-populism-underclass-anti-elitism-acting-white-incompatible-co...

JFC what happened to Tapatalk in new iOS? I can’t get it to feed me just the most recent unread topics. It takes a while to find it, but it's there. Go to Groups, click on Grylliade, then click "Discussions" in the bottom menu, then scroll the top menu to "Unread" and click that. Fortunately it rem...

Womp womp on me. It's fake.

Stolen pic from a family who raised a coyote kit (pup?) as a pet, which worked out better than expected:

Re: It's not the size of the screen...

The first couple of episodes of The Gifted are actually quite good, despite being the typical (by now) mutants hunted by the government story line. It's got an interesting take of a prosecutor who normally puts the screws on mutants having the screws put on him. Plus it's got Amy Acker, who is my pr...

Re: Setec Astronomy

I'm really confused about why MS was able to get a patch out already, and Google is expecting to take most of a month. Because it's a flaw in the spec, not the implementation, and MS is historically extremely OK rolling out implementations that don't conform to the spec. So what, MS rolled out a fi...

The Orville keeps churning out good, albeit derivative in premise, Trek episodes.

This time they did a nice take on Balance of Terror.

Re: What's New at the Bijou?

I use the silicone putty ones. Cheap, have limited reusability, and are also flatter attenuation than the foam ones. I seem to have larger than normal ear canals, so the foam ones have gaps.

Worth a try before you go the custom route, though I imagine those are far more comfortable.

Re: GET OFF MY LAWN!

Nighttime mode is basically a compressor. And it boost quiet signals and attenuates loud signals. It's why stuff sounds different on FM radio--it makes it easier to hear through any noise. I have often wanted studio-quality compressors for movies. psst... If you are hearing through the TV speakers,...

If by "single" you mean "injected into the spinal cord" and by "malt" you mean "corticosteroid," then yes.

Double-bag it in a freezer Ziploc, place in freezer. No muss (and no Mus ), no fuss. Hadn't considered that with mammals. I know it's fine for insects. It was still alive enough to squeal and scrabble when the animal control lady put it in a shoebox. I assume a bit of sedative later and it's munchi...

Why animal control? Why not deal with it yourself?

Were you concerned it's carrying disease?
Given how sick it was--it let me get pretty close to get that photo--yeah, I was worried about disease.

And any option I have to put it out of its misery would be more gruesome. Plus I have to work.

I'm pretty sure I also heard their alarm chirp as I was walking my dogs over their hideout under the sidewalk.

I get (some) of why people were initially into Trump. But I definitely don't get how they still are all in...what is the continuing appeal? Is it purely ego protection?
