Re: Rand Paul.....sigh.

Just pathetic excuse-making for Trump this morning. Even though he says he agrees that the Russians did try to meddle! But they were just revealing “uncomfortable truths” about Hillary, so they’re really the heroes of this story, and we meddle in elections all the time so it’s not really a big deal...

Orange is the new President

This bad even for Trump. It would be one thing to be bland and non-committal but openly supportive of Putin is just bizarre. Unless of course you've been watching him be openly supportive of Putin literally this entire time, in which case it's just more of exactly what half the people here have bee...

Re: Orange is the new President

OK guys. He just said he trusts the ex-KGB guy over pretty much everyone else ever. On the one hand we have guys with a lot of details about exactly who inside the Russian government engaged in specific interference with the DCCC and Hillary's campaign. On the other hand we've got a guy who kills po...

Re: Orange is the new President

Something in this case should have broke by now if there was any real proof of significant wrongdoing. Especially so if you think Trump is so stupid as to order a treasonous act in public. He can't be both a conspiratorial mastermind and a boob who publicly admits to his own conspiracies. I strongl...

Re: How's the weather? v. 1.1

We’d been having a gnarly ish fire season, but we’re getting some good rain today. Currently 66F. We were in Estes Park yesterday when it was a pretty brutal 98F in Denver. There it was just 82-84F, although the sun at that elevation is intense enough that it felt pretty damn hot outside of the shad...

Re: the list of those things which are not food

Now finally reading the full story on the Papa John's thing that happened. The most ha ha morissettian part I now just learned is that the entire point of conference call was to coach him on better public relations interactions. There's an O'Henry story in there. Possibly a meta story where O'Henry...

It looks like trolling? I know TDS is a thing on both sides of the aisle, but ... Can't quite tell if serious. Because a better answer is...he was publicly conspiring with the Russians? That seems a lot more far fetched than he was trolling. Ah. I was reading Jason's comment as 'It looks like [Russ...

Those are pretty epic.

So I take it that you're treating this as a scrape? Completely removing the existing structures and starting over from bare earth?

Re: Petty annoyances

I have a bit of guitar electronics on Facebook Marketplace, listed for $75, which I think is pretty fair. The other day this guy contacts me, and it goes like this. Guy: Is this still available? (note: this was almost certainly one of FB's preformatted questions) Me: Yes, it is. Guy: i got $40 I pa...

Well, they are presumably English seagulls...wait, then shouldn't they be drunk and throwing up on a flight to Spain?

The English can be drunk and throwing up wherever they may find themselves.

And yeah, almost everything is better than its Hostess equivalent.

Little Debbie's Swiss Cake Rolls are better than HoHos. Somebody does better filled-chocolate-cupcakes than Ding Dongs, although I'm not all in on that flavor anyway so it's not a big deal to me.

Team Painboy & Little Debbie Oatmeal Creme Pies. Oatmeal Creme Pies are the market. They're not as good as I remember them, when I've had them as an adult. Formula change, taste shift? Couldn't say. Still pretty good. Also, when I did a taste taste of a bunch of Twinkie imitations back when they we...

Moon Pies are like chicken pox or the cartons of the 1980s. If you were exposed as a child, you're ok, but if you try to pick them up as an adult, you're liable to wind up sterile.
This is not wrong.

They definitely get squished and crumble easily, so they're not robust hiking food.

To clarify, Moon Pies in the microwave are different than donuts. Donuts in the microwave are just getting them back to the Hot Now thing, which is legit the way donuts are meant to be eaten. Also I want to make sure that the 2-3 years thing is only for the Moon Pie thing and not for Krispie Kreme H...

Re: Random Observations C.A (306 pages is enough)

Hmm. I feel that microwaving, frying, or freezing classic snack foods is adulteration. It is transformative in a way that makes them ingredients, rather than foods themselves. Fried Twinkies are not Twinkies. Frozen Snickers are not Snickers (but still neither is food). If you were to manage to get ...

Moon pies are more emergency rations. One of those out of the vending machine can sustain you through a midnight shift where the spin pack machine unbalances and explodes six times over. AMHIK
