Re: Random Observations C.A (306 pages is enough)

Ah, I was thinking something more like "There was no collusion, no collusion!" "And we should have better relations with Russia and collusion is totally legal!"

Re: Inequality

That story is entirely too pat for me to, well, digest. It reeks of contrarian bias in the face of the general take on food anthropology as I understand it - which is always and forever you are trying to solve for regular supplies of calories and each iteration of food in society would not happen i...

Re: Random Observations C.A (306 pages is enough)

Unrelated, there needs to be a term for the situation where someone points it that one side of an debate is doing something, someone on that side denies that thing is happening, and immediately , a pile of people on that side start justifying that exact thing that "isn't happening". Giulianing? Was...

No. Fuck Millennials and their 'stories'. You have a 'bio' like everyone else. You're not a goddamned princess. Harmph. </lawn>

The other is luckily married to an American women so I think he's safe. I wouldn't bet on it. ICE has denied a visa application of a 4-year-old adopted child of two American citizens. https://kdvr.com/2018/08/09/colorado-parents-fighting-to-stop-legally-adopted-four-year-old-daughter-from-being-dep...

Re: Trump's Bogus Argument to Deny Green Cards and Citizenship to Immigrants who Play by the Rules

I can at least see a rationale behind doing that kind of thing moving forward. Hey look you're free to come here but you really should make it on your own or go back is at least an ethos. But a critical piece of rule of law is predictability. This is tinpot banana republic shit. They say they want t...

Specifically, old people driving around in and then looking at cars. Not old people gettin' it on in cars. Well not mostly.

Re: Star Trek Wankery

Jesus, that Nemesis movie was HORRIBLE. It might have made a fair-to-middling TNG episode if you trimmed it down an cut out some unnecessary subplots, but as a full-length movie -- blecch . I see you've met Insurrection only without them straight up murdering a guy at the end. Well technically by l...

I know this stuff intellectually, but ugh. And here in colored reddish, it's 32 years.

Which still gets you to '86, but now I'm only off in my mind by 13 years which I can live with.

Yeah no spark so not running. Yeah, you smoked the alternator when your reverse polarized the battery. It's cheap and easy to protect against that. I wouldn't stand in the way of legislation that would hold CEOs of vehicle manufactures what didn't protect the alternator personally libel to buy thei...

Re: Our Friends, The House of Saud

Is it just me, or does this seem like a huge overreaction by the Saudis to anyone else? Like "You can't tell me what to do! I bet you're not even my REAL mom!" teen tantrum level overreaction to "Your room is a mess." I'm guessing there's some sort of cultural aspect to it, but I certainly can't sp...

I’m going to bet against ichneumon wasp because the long bit on DE’s specimen is the actual abdomen, not an ovipositor like on the wasp.

Could still be a wasp of some sort, but not ichneumon.

Question about auto mechanics and the choosing thereof. The Erstwhile Surly Teen used some of his extra cash picked up during his Korea deployment to buy an old beat up Mustang ('73 with a 351). It was to be a fixer-upper, but has ended up being more fixey than anticipated, especially since while 'h...

I will say that at metered onramps I almost never have to worry about the dumbass in front of me not accelerating enough to merge properly. I almost always have plenty of room to match speed, even at poorly built, too-short onramps. That's just my observation.

I got randomly curious about aquavit and picked up a bottle of Linie. That is a remarkably smooth drink for the ABV.
