Re: To Infinity War and Beyond: the MCU Thread with Spoilers

I would say it was better than Marvel's average, but not awesomely spectacular or anything. Better than a lot of Marvel movies, not quite as good as the first Avengers or Guardians of the Galaxy. On par with Dr. Strange. I'll cosign this, with the addendum that The Winter Soldier is the best of the...

Re: 17-Year-Old Says 'I Could Buy an AR-15,' Gets Arrested

All the people saying the FBI dropped the ball on the kid in Florida, was he doing anything illegal that the FBI could have credibly done to stop him? The guns were obtained legally. A neighbor apparently reported that he was shooting his handgun in the backyard, which is reckless endangerment, and...

Re: The Omnivore's 100

Same genus, so yeah literally. In fact, the name 'jackfruit' gets applied to 'breadfruit' sometimes. Or vice versa. Anyway, a bunch of closely related species are called jackfruit and breadfruit is in the same group of closely related species.

Re: The Omnivore's 100

In the category of "Fruits That Kill With Gravity" I really like jackfruit. It hits all of the right notes. Tropical, floral, texture is interesting but not slimy. Bonus: if you buy a whole one you can break out the machete to get into it. If you don't like juicy fruit gum this is not the fruit for...

Re: What are you drinking?

Drinking some cigar city brown ale. Chocolate wrapped in espresso. It is amazing. Everything I've had by Cigar City has been top notch. I really wish we could get it here. The first, and so far best, was called Mango Grove. It was a lacto sour with tons of tropical fruit flavor pounded into it. And...

Re: The Omnivore's 100

I came across this list compiled in 2008 by a UK blog that appears to no longer exist -- their idea of "the hundred foods every omnivore should try before they die." I will paste the list below, and invite your commentary: the number of foods you have tried, and any that were particularly memorable...

Stephen Miller is basically what I imagine a Batman villain to be like at his day job. I always thought he was more of a Stephen King villain. Specifically, Andre Linoge. You spelled "Craig Toomy (as played by Bronson Pinchot in the 1995 teledrama adaptation of King's short story "The Langoliers)" ...
