Re: Home $weet Home

The control for one of the range elements broke so I ordered the part, watched the appropriate DYI video and have now spent over an hour trying to get two tiny Philips head screws out. They are set in an odd angle under the control panel cover and it's so far impossible to get sufficient purchase. ...

Re: Observations of the Random sort

Neither the money a movie makes nor the fame of its actors, especially if that fame is derived from TV, directly drive what they are paid. Stars get paid because studios believe they can fill seats on an opening weekend. They can parlay their last picture's success into a larger paycheck for their n...

Re: Private Money!

I wouldn't have that much trouble spending a billion dollars. Real estate, art, a jet or two, etc. Okay, so I might have buyer's remorse over upward of a third of my purchases, but when you're in the zone to buy your own private island, a billion ain't that much. It takes a long time to line up tho...

It's another opportunity for the World's Greatest Defibrillative Body to raise its average age (currently 61) and lower its average IQ (somewhere around room temperature) at the same time. Steve Bannon, pack yer bags! You're goin' to Arizona!

So, not so cheap tho under $1k laptop arrived yesterday. Watched the first two episodes of Black Mirror . I thought the first was pretty 'eh'; it read way too much like your standard police/military/intelligence thriller, and the "message" left me shrugging. But the second one was a really good riff on consumerism, celebrity culture, and the rat race. Yo...

It's 20F outside at the moment, and the worst part of experiencing low temperatures like this in Texas is having to explain altogether too often to some dimwitted global warming denier the difference between weather and climate.

Seriously, I'd be very happy if we picked up upwards of a dozen newcomers. We've lost, for various reasons, some of the most interesting and entertaining members over the last five or six years, and I feel that loss.

Actually, ferrets have a highly developed olfactory system.
Which is why English speakers are able to distinguish between something that smells bad and something that smells badly. Words, Warren! Words! Without words, math and science are impossible!
