Re: Orange is the new President

There’s also nothing in Senate rules that make statehood filibusterable if it’s not a bill. So ads could just ram through a PR statehood if they controlled the House and Senate. The other R versions require carving up a state, which means the state legislature has to approve.

Orange is the new President

So the UNGA actually made Trump blush with embarrassment for (sorta) calling him out on a dumb lie.

ETA: Notable because I was surprised he could feel shame for being called out on a lie

Good thing that officially per the Constitution, the Prez isn't involved. New States may be admitted by the Congress into this Union; but no new State shall be formed or erected within the Jurisdiction of any other State; nor any State be formed by the Junction of two or more States, or Parts of St...

I’m a little disappointed in Clickhole for this effort. There is no “coming out party”, the word ‘cotillion’, or a party in the Hamptons or Kennebunkport. It just feels mailed in.

TIL that straight male friends can never be roommates. Wasn’t “he’s my roommate” the tradition way to conceal a homosexual relationship? This is uncle Bert’s ‘friend’ Ernie. It's true though. Heterosexual guys use to be able to form deep friendships that isn't really possible anymore. They can't? I...

I think (timely hot take here) racism against Middle Eastern and Muslim people definitely got worse after 9/11/2001. Other than that, team JasonL/Kwix. I can't see any objective benchmarks to tell one way or another. Certainly from where I'm standing I see a whole lot of SJW defense of Muslims. The...

Also, indoor soccer has half as many players. So spacing issues are different.

But yeah, comparing indoor soccer to EPL or La Liga is like comparing Arena League to the NFL.

Re: Our National Pastime

I agree. I think a 20% increase in playing field dimensions would do a lot of good in most sports. Unsure if needed as much in the NFL. Except soccer, where they should probably shrink the field 20%. Increasing everything by 20% would leave more open space and therefore provide more scoring opportu...

Re: Our National Pastime

It’s almost assuredly for the more home runs reason. With all the non-revenue generating decorative crap that sits around in a modern ballpark, it’s clear that it’s a way to game the system. Also, NL teams, which is a more pitching focused league, tends to have more foul territory than AL teams. Fou...

Re: Our National Pastime

That's a phenomenon I think we've seen in multiple sports: the pros have just outgrown the field of play. I think the same applies to basketball, and it happened a long time ago in men's tennis. NFL might be getting there too. The players are too big, too fast, and too strong, and the lack of avail...
