Re: There must be a pony in here somewhere.

Dude is pretty well known partisan judge and his logic that a $0 mandate is the lynchpin of O-Care is pretty questionable.

Re: When journalism goes bad

I wonder what goes into that calculation. Chase, Wells and BofA offer 0.01% (presumably rounded up) on checking. So it’s closer to 3-600x from the big guys.

I can’t imagine the wailing and gnashing if a Congress critter of Mexican heritage did this.

There must be a pony in here somewhere.

no incentive to actually have employer-provided healthcare IMO that would be a good thing -- the idea that health insurance is something you get through your job rather than something you get on your own is a huuuuuge problem with the current (and pre-Obamacare) status quo. Even in the land of NHS,...

FFS, this guy thinks the problem with subway crime in the 80s and 90s was turnstile jumpers rather than pickpockets, muggers and violent criminals.

Re: There must be a pony in here somewhere.

Medicare reimbursements are about 80% of private insurance. Interestingly, I hung out with a friend of mine who said that O-care saved hospitals a ton of money because costs associated with EMTALA went away. So without looking at reduced costs (say administrative costs) it’s difficult to say what th...

In the Senate, there are a lot more Red seats up than Blue seats in 2020. The Blues could win control of both houses. If they get a Blue president, I think some form of Universal Plan is inevitable. The only question is "How big will the bill be?" I am sure that the Blues will indulge in a lot of h...

ICE puts out call to have immigrants help kids locked up. They come and it’s a sting they use as an excuse to check criminal backgrounds and deport people. This is fucking depraved. But yes, there’s nothing wrong with Trump because of the lulz https://www.wonkette.com/totally-non-evil-ice-arrests-17...

Mixed with the bad side of an unconscionably long wait, at least the hold music sounds like the theme song from a 70s cop show.

Re: Inequality

I would note that a lot of the reason people move to the “coolest places” is that is where the jobs are. Witness Amazon and Google’s recent moves. Those are prestige companies that can get people to move to them and they still chose NY and DC.

Rich Lowry: Democrats are dumb because they poo-pooed voter fraud. And see, Republicans committed voter* fraud, so it's real. Never mind that none of the solutions that are offered up would do anything to prevent this from happening and that there was already a law against exactly what was done here...

Jennifer will become an old lady name in the coming years.

Also, despite being more common in the 90s than it is now, Alexander's rank went from 23rd to 8th.

In the heyday of Westerns there was like a new Western like every other week.
That's just the movies. In it's heyday there were three Westerns every night of the week on TV.
Which, as a proportion of all TV on the air, was like 10% of broadcast entertainment.

Also, weird tangent: I've a few times run into European lefties online who went on about how minimum wage laws don't exist in Europe because unions negotiate minimum wages privately. Naturally, this is completely false, with most European countries having statutory minimum wages, but I wonder how s...

Doesn’t pretty much every team have a player or 10 that kneels. The Seahawks and Eagles both have a lot. And there was no way to know that Vick was reformed or not. And there is zero chance Reuben Foster is.

Fans do not care. There is zero evidence that fans care more about this than domestic abuse, dog fighting or being an accessory to a double murder. Well clearly the owner's think they do care. As you just noted they don't always care a lot about of other issues. If an owner thought they wouldn't ge...

Shorter Warren: 80% drop in BTC: What me worry? 3% drop in DJIA: Human sacrifice, dogs and cats living together – mass hysteria. Well, BTC moves 80% on the regular. How often do you get a 3% move on the DOW? For the record, it's a little early for hysteria. Have to wait till Thr. to see what happen...
