Mrs. Mo was watching the Big Short. Nothing makes me go full commie and put the banksters behind bars more than that film.

Icahn's departure from the Trump administration is not at all high minded. The most shocking thing is that they system actually prevented cronyism. http://www.newyorker.com/magazine/2017/08/28/carl-icahns-failed-raid-on-washington Though the cronyism was prevented in the same manner as Mr. Burns' im...

Re: Market Failure!

Just had my first accidental booking. Not actually a huge deal in itself in terms of ease of changing. But pricing basic vs standard fares makes me want to kick everyone at United and Delta in the balls. My days of marine air terminal bliss may be over. Flying fucking American now and I'm going to ...

Well, clearly you've read the specific arguments carefully. Yeah, I'm pretty lazy, but now I've read most of the thread. Damn, I guess I was stupid and got glasses from Amazon. They're ostensibly one of the brands specifically recommended by NASA. Seems easy to make up a counterfeit Amazon site, bu...

It's not so much that it's all new as uniquely ironic given that Trump was the "tell it like it is no more PC" candidate.
Please see RSN's sig line to see my original take on the phenomenon.

Re: Orange is the new President

Someone on Twitter pointed out that no one from Trump's Evangelical Council has resigned showing that business leaders have more ethical backbone than evangelical leaders do. This is especially odd considering the former have much more to gain via cronyism. But the Evangelical council's base is sti...

It's rubbish. I'm so sick of reading: White boys living in moms basement, are into [Dungeons and Dragons, Heavy Metal, Science Fiction, Video Games] because they can't get laid. How pathetic. Nazis aren't larpers.
LARPers have better props.

Re: Solar Eclipse/End of the World 2017

Everyone's freaking out about looking at an eclipse for 3 seconds but no one sheds a tear about my eyes being seared by the setting sun every time I have to drive toward the west (which is somehow ALWAYS late afternoon?) Cause that's what the sun visor is for. :) Below a certain angle, the visor do...

The critique itself is dumb, but the claim that no progressives are worried about it is potentially even dumber.

I think Trump has finally broken VDH's brain . You don't have to look very hard to see folks on the left pressuring Apple over Foxconn suicides, rare earth metal mining, criticize tech company tax games or talk about using anti-trust against Google and Facebook. It''s like he thought, "Tech companie...

I think Immelt wins biggest chump on the board award. AFAIK, he was the only one to put out a press release saying that he was staying for reasons (like say cronyism) and then everyone left him holding the bag.

Also, so much for that long list of companies that were dying to join the councils.

Re: Observations of the Random sort

It seems likely to me that many people lied in response to poll questions during the last campaign and may still be lying to pollsters. The US has a lot of paranoid people and their paranoia is regularly stoked by Alex Jones types on the right and [insert name of equivalent on left here]. They may ...

dhex, you lived in the Tri-State area long enough to know the answer to that question. We have a 70 year old man that would fail the marshmallow test as president.

Re: Orange is the new President

The anti-fa has been getting coverage, but obviously someone getting killed (esp in a manner that mirrors terror attacks in Europe and therefore shocks people) is going to raise the amount of coverage. Also, the president acting like a syphilitic monkey in response is going to ramp up the media atte...

What is the greatest act of violence we can pin on antifa? That guy who shot at congresspersons? Re: It doesn't matter if you're black or white

Also, it would seem that there's an odd coincidence of the two statues in the news this week were erected (he he) in 1924. Interestingly, Moore v. Dempsey, which allowed for federal review of state cases to ensure that (black) defendants were given their constitutional rights, was decided in 1923 an...
