Re: Occam, Trump, and Russia

With the news that the Russians went after Ted Cruz and Marco Rubio, I can expect both of them to endorse the Russians for president. But don't worry, Rubio will subtweet them with Bible verses.

Re: 17-Year-Old Says 'I Could Buy an AR-15,' Gets Arrested

All the people saying the FBI dropped the ball on the kid in Florida, was he doing anything illegal that the FBI could have credibly done to stop him? The guns were obtained legally.

Re: Masculinity, so fragile

I'm aware, I just wanted to release the dhex (hence Mission Accomplished). Almost all great art is political commentary. i just can't resist leveling up my "pedantic twat" skill stats. My best buddy from college was a huge Joyce fan and back in the day we used to troll him about Joyce and Ulysses. ...

Cap was always the idealist and Stark was an arms dealer to the feds. So the CW split makes sense.

Re: Masculinity, so fragile

It was helpfully explicated by one of the Reddit commenters: in Sleeping Beauty, the masculine represents civilization and reason and the feminine represents chaos and benightedness. So the handsome prince kisses her awake, symbolizing civilization's awakening of irrational humanity. But it's impor...

Is an issue of the NYT art? Is it political propaganda? I don't think his point is strong or relevant, but I don't know that he's flat out wrong. 3 . Ulysses by James Joyce - Apolitical so deeply disagree with this that I'm in a pit yelling through a microphone. http://www.macrobusiness.com.au/wp-c...

Because Peterson said that “art” is not political. Citizen Kane is pretty universally viewed as art, while Transformers is not.

Let's look at the top 10 books on "The Greatest Books" and see how it lines up. Don't quibble about the order or if they're the right top 10, but they're...

Re: Orange is the new President

How does the White House Counsel not yet have full clearance? Down in the trenches, it can take a full year to go from SF-86 (and its successors) submittal to final adjudication for TS/SCI. It was taking even longer than that during the mid 00s personnel surges. (and mismanagement, and bureaucratic...

Re: Masculinity, so fragile

So I Googled this to see what Jennifer was talking about and his response to a question about it is really fucking dumb. Frozen served a political purpose: to demonstrate that a woman did not need a man to be successful. Anything written to serve a political purpose (rather than to explore and creat...

Re: Orange is the new President

How does the White House Counsel not yet have full clearance? Is there a scintilla of doubt in anybody's mind that if he wasn't actually the president, Trump couldn't get a hall pass let alone a security clearance? Nah, but neither could Clinton and I suspect Kennedy. I would suspect that Obama wou...

Yikes! I just saw the Trumpy Bear commercial on actual TV! AHC -- the so-called "American Heroes Channel" -- airing a documentary on "Hitler the Actor: Part 2." That great American hero, Hitler. See, I think your lack of exposure to the greatness that is Trumpy Bear is simply a self selecting bias ...

It’s a less extreme version of Fugu. It’s generally not worth the cost for the benefit. But unlike Fugu, I think it’s a bit exaggerated. But why do that when god made lychee? I disagree that it's comparable to fugu. Normal Southeast Asians, like my Malaysian coworker, like it for non-Xtreme reasons.
