I will pay good money for one of those. It'll be the first item in my museum exhibition, "Artifacts of Failure."

(Now that I think about it, that would actually be an amusing and interesting collection.)
You should get a poker chip from the Trump Taj Mahal to really bookend the museum.

Not even Astoria.
Greek was ahead of Arabic there, which makes sense. I figured Steinway would be it.

Re: Worthwhile intertubez finds

Some pretty cool maps of what languages are most commonly spoken in New York City neighborhoods. Not surprisingly, the most common language is English, or sometimes Spanish (with the exception of one neighborhood where it's Russian!) Also not surprisingly, the second language is usually Spanish, or...

Re: Occam, Trump, and Russia

http://foreignpolicy.com/2018/04/13/trumps-russia-policy-is-better-than-obamas/ The headline is certainly debatable, and it doesn't prove there was no collusion, but if there was Vlad appears to have been screwed. You shouldn't try to con a con man I guess. Holy selective reasoning Batman. I like h...

You have to love the supposed “1st amendment absolutists” on the right that believe that think the abortion gag rule is ok, but banning gay conversion therapy is an affront.

Re: Orange is the new President

Three Republicans voted against Haspel, so voting as a bloc would have won it. The only good thing about the Haspel nomination is that blocks Cotton from getting the job and he seems downright enthusiastic to torture.

Here's what I don't get, the Dems in blue states that flipped. Do they really think that Haspel is really the tipping point that will keep a voter from leaving them?

Is anyone buying Haspel's newfound regrets on torture enhanced interrogation? Clearly, there was a reason she waited until after, so there wouldn't be video of her lying about it.

Re: Powerful Mice in Space (The New Star Wars Gripe Thread)

The biggest issue is "why wasn't this used on the Death Star?" although possibly the idea was that any ship that was close enough to see a way to plot a course into the Death Star would be in range of megaweapon. Except that multiple Alliance ships seemed to be pretty close (up to and including fly...

It does seem oxymoronic to need to operate on a 'benign' condition.
Especially one that requires a week of recovery. My dad got a chamber of one lung removed and was out after a long weekend.

Novartis has great lawyers, they knew what they were paying for. They engage in high stakes negotiations with suppliers, licensing agreements and distributors, but got played by a guy who can’t even write an airtight NDA? GTFO. PayPal was not successful because of Musk. It was successful because it was the exclusive acceptance mark for the #2 ecommerce site in the world. Without eBay, PayPal is DOA. IOW. it's not what you know, but who you know. One thing I would say, in PayPal's defense, is that they were the #1 acceptan...
