Re: Net Neutrality

If Madison River was allowed to block VoIP traffic, do you think we end up where we are with that sort of technology or do corporates 100% stick to PBX?

Re: Net Neutrality

The 2015 date is b.s. Per Jennifer's ACLU tweet, ISPs mostly operated under NN rules. Because the early interet was over POTS, it was regulated via common carrier rules. Even after that, the FCC fined telcos that attempted to block services, like they did to Madison River for blocking VoIP (now doin...

Maybe I'm stupid, but wouldn't setting your facebook profile to private solve this problem?

Re: Worthwhile intertubez finds

I'm not sure I see a business case in the US. In parts of asia there's still this idea of "do you have someone rich or prominent who will vouch for you" so there's already this odd kind of social agreement about credit worthiness thing. Deal is, if the market for loans is large and competitive, I c...

Re: If We Build It, They'll Probably Still Come

CAH should buy land where there is already a wall and try to tear it down. I think their idea is better. Tearing down an existing wall is undoubtedly a crime. That get's them arrested and then they're defendants in a criminal trial. Better to be plaintiffs in a civil trial. Not if you own the land....

This is horrifying . Let's take FICO scores and make them more invasive, less accountable and insane. Oh and it's coming here. Zhima Credit’s algorithm considers not only whether you repay your bills but also what you buy, what degrees you hold, and the scores of your friends. ... She explained how ...

Re: Orange is the new President

David Duke lost 61-39 back in the 90s. Moore coming within 1.5 points is a step backward, not forward. Duke is in many ways better or equal to Moore. Louisiana is not Alabama, and the politics of that day were a lot less crazy than right now. And rejecting Moore after voting in Trump is step away f...

Wait, these are the highly incriminating tweets of biased FBI agents. The Secretary of Energy has said worse things about Trump and they booed Eric Holder.

Orange is the new President

It annoys me that Rs are treating this like some sort of moral cleansing for the GOP. Moore lost by 1.5 percentage points. He hardly got bounced*. A Republican won an open special election in MA over policy annoyance and a bad campaigner. In AL it took someone that was twice removed as a judge for d...

1. Apparently, yoga can only be done while playing really shitty music using vaguely eastern-sounding scales. This includes incredibly terrible covers of Dylan, Neil Young, and the Beatles done to sound "eastern."
Couldn't they just play the parts of Beatles songs where Harrison plays the sitar?

Re: Orange is the new President

In all seriousness, Trump managed to pick two Republicans in Alabama that both lost their race. How much air cover does Congress give him now? How much was Trump and how much was Moore? The RNC must be hoping it was mostly Moore, because going from a 28 point spread in favor of the GOP in 2016 to l...

If Shem is correct that it's all of Alabama, that's more than a few zip codes. Spain's states are a lot smaller, but comparing Guadalajara to Sri Lanka would also be the fair comparison.
