Yeah, I mean it's not like he picked it up by its ears.

So am I the only one that's still wrapped up in this show? There's a fuckton of analysis I'd like to talk about, but not if no one else is interested.

Also, I will filibuster at length about why we should go for a hybrid Swatch .beats/neo-wadokei local solar time system. 6am will be dawn every day, 6pm will be sunset every day. (Or, using the system I suggested , 0d and 0n.) Jesus Christ, what a shitshow that would be. Longer workdays in the summ...

When he argues for example that the ethics of atheists are not based in rationality but in contemporary norms... I would expect rationality and contemporary norms to walk side by side. "Don't be prejudiced" is an ethic. If contemporary norms are shifting to anti-immigrant, the rational atheist shou...

Aside - what passes for comedy in my house. The most significant governing section of IRC related to deferred compensation plans is section 409a. I was in the middle of deferred comp stuff at work, got home, made something on the stovetop and I asked the wife to hand me the 409a like 4 times - gett...

Re: This is the thread for people who died, died.

I find it interesting that CNBC believes that their audience knows who Grover Norquist and Joe Arpaio are, but Ron Jeremy needs context. Apparantly Hof is still going to be on the ballot for the state leg seat he was running for, and will likely win due to the partisan lean of the district. Fuck. T...

Re: Petty annoyances

I've been enjoying the show Good Bones on HGTV -- it certainly doesn't hurt that the younger woman is a super hot freckled redhead -- but the title really annoys me. To me it implies a house that might need some cosmetic work but that is fundamentally well-designed and/or well-built; yet every epis...

CNBC has probably mentioned Norquist and Arpaio a hundred times in the past few years and Jeremy maybe once. So I'd say they're not wrong about that.

It could have gone in YLSNED because you didn't know this was a thing. But here is where it belongs. You may make with the lu...

The Kmart Cafe has it's own reddit . The picture posted is 80's vintage. The opening comments describe the 70's version I recall: This is going way back, but our Kmart had a straight up diner inside. It was towards the back, center. Surrounded by frosted glass, and half walls. The booths were blue n...

Markets, creative destruction, yadda yadda and all that, I'm kinda saddened by the collapse of Sears. Thing is, Sears collapsed twenty years ago. It's been on life support. And now they're pulling the plug. Well, yeah. Still nostalgia-sad. I got the sads back when Kmart put in fast food chains in p...

The pricing where I live is about $100 from Cox for internet + cable and about $120 for just internet. So they're paying you to get cable? You can also choose CenturyLink for just internet, but the price doesn't matter because the internet never works. CenturyLink DSL is the only internets availabl...

For all their flaws, I can't imagine any of those guys wanting to hang around with Trump. Nobody with more brain cells than Kanye wants to hang around with Trump. I can't tell the players without a score card in the Mid East. Remind me again, what Wahabi regime did we successfully deal with? The House of Saud if 'successfully deal with' means 'successfully bribed into not openly trying to wipe out Israel or playing political oil games.' But could we get simi...

This is the scary part. Any coup that puts the Saudi royals up against the wall could put a nasty Wahabi regime in place. Those we actually know how to deal with, though. And I'm not kidding. Not sure in what sense you mean 'deal with'. Do you mean 'trade with' or 'bomb the shit out of?' First one,...

Mind you, I only heard a few weeks ago that they apparently remade The Computer Wears Tennis Shoes back in the 1990s. I think I might be able to live without hunting that one down. !? I mean Kurt Russel owns that role. ETA The 1995 remake was a 'made for TV' movie. There's a possibility it achieved...
