Re: Twitter!

I’m very close to that view. Yeah, but it's a current culture thing. White supremacists for all their visibility and the media's gnashing of teeth over them are few, pathetic, and mostly harmless. Whereas public education, and the teachers union rank and file endorsement of the welfare state is an ...

So what? I'd encourage you to go visit and browse, and maybe mention that you are there despite disagreement about the political stuff they tweet about. I wouldn't even specify the topic.
Or not mention it. I think there's more to be said in favor of nazi dry-cleaners.

Re: Dreams (not those crushed by the weight of unfulfilled life)

I got a one-week free trial to HBO shows on Amazon Prime, so I've been bingeing on Westworld , and having vivid dreams about it every night, but not at all the ones you'd expect. Like, in one, I went to a Westworld restaurant, and the menu had "Fruit Salad" which was described as "Banana ice cream ...

Yeah but you wash your hands and that meat will be cooked to temp right? And your knives and cutting board have been cleaned beforehand? Can't tell if serious I have seen Jason's kitchen. I've watched him prepare food in it. I have eaten food he's prepared. I dare say your average Pad Thai vendor o...

Re: First, do no harm (side effects may include death)

You may be aware of Michael Pollan's forthcoming book on psychedelic research. Excerpt is not bad https://lithub.com/how-psilocybin-could-be-used-in-mental-health-treatment/ I mean, it's good except like, well, yeah, that's what trips are like and obviously why everyone should take them. From what ...

Re: Powerful Mice in Space (The New Star Wars Gripe Thread)

The problem is the argument: "Okay, these people sell weapons to the First Order, so that makes them bad. So people who are dealing with them are bad people. But they also sell weapons to the Resistance. That means the Resistance is dealing with them, and thus they're also bad people." The movie ca...

Found another one yesterday, he'd been off water for a few days. He might not make it. I've got a 7-year-old girl lined up to take them over soon, which'll be good. For all of us. When I was young, I knew a few old guys who had a beef around that they never did seem to get around to butchering. I d...

I'm actually unsure whether he'd be worse . I know he's been doing speaking tours, but I don't know his political deal in the modern era. Now that you mention it... I assumed he was still all-in on American Exceptionalism Foreign Policy, but it's probably been fifteen years since I heard him speak....

Yeah I don't know. I'm very The Fountainhead in my architectural views in that I'm a firm believer that form should follow function. A height limit might drive creative style, but that doesn't mean the city wouldn't be better off with bigger, less creative buildings.

I like how a driver crosses over the medium and hits an oncoming Waymo van and the headline is "Self-driving car crash in Arizona".
