Re: Net Neutrality

NN hysteria reminds me of Citizens United hysteria. And the really sad part is how you can't get anyone to acknowledge "You said all these horrible things would happen if we did this. We did it and none of those things happened. In fact, nothing has actually changed in the slightest".

Re: If We Build It, They'll Probably Still Come

CAH should buy land where there is already a wall and try to tear it down. I think their idea is better. Tearing down an existing wall is undoubtedly a crime. That get's them arrested and then they're defendants in a criminal trial. Better to be plaintiffs in a civil trial. Not if you own the land....

That's Mo's point. It's not a moral cleansing but is being treated as such by some parties in the R party.

Re: Orange is the new President

It annoys me that Rs are treating this like some sort of moral cleansing for the GOP. Moore lost by 1.5 percentage points. He hardly got bounced*. A Republican won an open special election in MA over policy annoyance and a bad campaigner. In AL it took someone that was twice removed as a judge for ...

And I'm saying you have to look far and wide to find people in the lower 48 living in their own shit. It's not hard to find seriously impoverished, especially amongst the rural poor. I've just never seen rural poor people living next to an open sewer. Indeed, living in filth is something I associate...

Re: The son of "What the hell are YOU staring at?"

it's as faithful to the source material as starship troopers! Starship Troopers is great! it is! the general anti-consensus on here is that it strays too far from the techno-fascist militarism handjobbery of the book. i'd say it goes all in instead and is great because of it. That's truer for Amadeus

Re: The son of "What the hell are YOU staring at?"

If the movie were not so well made, indeed, it would be ludicrous. Material like this invites filmmakers to take chances and punishes them mercilessly when they fail. That's especially true when the movie is based on best-selling material a lot of people are familiar with. ("The Silence of the Lamb...
