Re: Orange is the new President

The way to solve this is mandatory military service. If every fucking moron has been in the military, then more people will understand that they're regular people and not talismen of honor. This didn't work for the Soviet Union, in my reading of the situation. I'm not sure it even works for Russia ...

I get that it's complete bullshit, but is it really unconstitutional?
Government making aid based on forced associations is pretty clear cut.
I could have sworn they had sleazed around that.

That is so sweet to see Arpaio caught on the horns of you can't get the record wiped once you have effectively copped a plea.

I would have gone with MLK, Jr.

Or George Washington Carver, given his increasing modern recognition.

Today, before I even made it out of the complex and onto the road, two different people cut corners while coming the other way, forcing me to stop or else hit them.

I'm reminded of that bit with the alien diva in The Fifth Element. The filmmakers were trying for a performance a human being couldn't deliver...and the opera singer they got cheerfully managed most or nearly all of it.

Yes, if you compare the drugged cat to a drugged dog doing the same stuff, they look pretty similar. :D

Yeah, it's pretty universal. I killed an indignant rant thread elsewhere on that silly Northrop-Grumman promo comic Marvel cancelled by pointing out how the same people going "OMG that horrible company makes drones!" today were going "drones are the best solution Our Wonderful President can use!" ju...

I did not realize last night was the season premiers of the various Fox network cartoons until I saw the recordings on my DVR. Bob's Burgers is usually my favorite of the three, but last night's episode was weird -- apparently they had some contest seeking fan art, and the winners got to see their ...

I've seen a couple of possums since moving to Georgia. Damn , those things are ugly. Like giant rats that sharpened their faces in a pencil sharpener. And big, creepy eyes. I once got out of my car and looked up right into the face of one perched on a fence, motionless, staring in apparent alarm at...

Has anyone ever had luck with those ultrasound things for mice & such? My neighbor had luck with getting rid of a family of possums that way. Did he call the big one Bitey? Heh. No. :) Of course, I forgot that he was also live-trapping the things and releasing them miles away. That had to have an a...

Why is this its own topic? The Hit & Run Over subforum is for us to link to H&R articles to discuss without having to be in the H&R comments section. As distinct from the H&R-was-better-under-Postrel thread which is for meta-discussion of H&R and its commenters. We have at least two threads about h...
