Re: Intellectualism: Dark and Webbed

I'm vaguely and oddly reminded of that article someone posted by a burnout ex-biker mama about how she didn't think young guys were manly enough for beards. But then, I say that having never heard of Daum or seeing much remarkable about her with a quick Google. Why is she in the "intellectual dark ...

I did get linked to this article by Deirdre McCloskey the other day. It was another, "Why is this here?" article.

Re: Ultramodern relationship problems

To answer the X-ennials question, X-ennials are people born in the boundary zone between Xers and Millennials. Typically 1978-82, IIRC. Timothy is in this category, and generally identifies more with Xer cynicism than Millennial idealism. This little span is where I am, along with number of coworke...

Re: Have you accepted Nothing as your lord and savior?

What amuses me is that according to the plate we are all under that one guy. It kinda shows the folly of pretending that religiously neutral references by the gov’t to a generic god are actually religiously neutral. 1) We are all equal, some of us more than others. 2) Apparently God is one of us.

OK, if it only degrades in 4-6 weeks under specific conditions, and otherwise is stable, I think this is an amazing invention.
And if it can actually be manufactured at scale at competitive prices, etc. But it is cool.

I've never heard of Sarah Dessen before this, and based on context I strongly suspect I'd regret it if I looked up details about the book in question, but ... by Wiener's logic, wouldn't it be "internalized misogyny" to say "I dislike the Twilight books for various reasons, including the really unh...

The Internet of Lies claims that Picoult is worth $10M. Which is rich but only barely. It's at the threshold of fuck you money. Thanks—I had trouble finding out about either. Yeah, that's his response to people who disagree with hi...

Utter crap to the point of being actively mendacious: Since its discovery in 1923, the price of insulin has risen in America from $1 (78p) per vial to about $300 (£233).
