Re: The Abortion Thread

Regarding those whose opposition to abortion stems primarily from white-supremacist attitudes -- the irony is that if they did succeed in passing the abortion bans of their dreams, the non-white birthrate will rise far faster than the white one. After all: wealthy women who need abortions will stil...

To be fair, saying fetuses are needed to become “these people we need to support us” isn’t exactly “concern for fetuses” at all, phony or otherwise.
Even worse if you read it as "those white people we need to support us", given immigration is why the population is growing.

I've been trying some of Ferrer's bottled gazpachos as snacks at work, and both the regular and "tropical" (ie, pineapple instead of tomato) versions have been good. Been pondering making my own. The beet version is too thick , though. (And is it just a European thing, or are Americans calling them ...

And the Iron Curtain going down was only good for a brief lull in anxiety.

On the other hand, they're playing deceptive Y-axis games, making a ~12% rise since actual attacks on US soil look like a ~33% jump.

Immigration officials last week deported the spouse of a U.S. soldier killed in Afghanistan in 2010, leaving the couple's 12-year-daughter in Phoenix without parents. https://www.azcentral.com/story/news/politics/immigration/2019/04/15/ice-deports-gonzalez-spouse-u-s-soldier-killed-afghanistan/3477...

Re: Of course I've got a blog. Who doesn't?

It's stupid, but I think it's a stupid lack of hypocrisy. They want to vastly increase the power of government without lying about it like the Reds, and they have real cognitive dissonance with the fact that Reds are and will be in power.

I draw a complete blank on other media outlets that still have a separate "site blog", anymore. It seems kinda sad. I guess that was just an Aughts thing that got long in the tooth.

Re: The Sheriff Joe Arpaio Memorial Prison Reform Thread

I didn't watch the video because I'm old and cranky and hate videos on the internet, but I'm reminded of how The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo begins with the main guy character going to prison and taking his laptop with him so he can write a book while he's in there. Instant immigration reform, instant neutralizing of Trump's main c...

Eh,, as the story is about them trying to detect people as dead who haven't been explicitly marked as such (if someone is marked dead, this already doesn't happen), I'm pretty sure they'll do some machine learning bullshit to misclasdify a bunch of people. [Addams Family] I'm not wowed, but I'm mildly intrigued, and the character designs closely resembling Charles Addams' original designs is a neat touch. I'll read the reviews, but I'm not hopeful. Looks lame. Especially as both Astin/Jones and Julia/Huston set the bar high. Julia/Hudson especially c...

This is the best marketing thing I've randomly watched in ages: Just a guy and his dog in the woods, hiking and fishing and camping and cooking.
