Can we try putting jet fuel into Trump himself to see what happens?

Re: To DVDs and Beyond: The Netflix Thread

I'm trying to remember but it's hard because if I see something upsetting I immediately try to forget it  For example, I liked many parts of O Brother but the part where the guy is getting whipped really bothered me. I didn't like the Baby Face storyline either. I think I mostly dug True Grit b...

Re: To DVDs and Beyond: The Netflix Thread

Near Algodones had the Coen feel was I expecting (absurd while remaining dry humored), and I enjoyed that one. James Franco played his role well, and Stephen Root laughing maniacally while running across a field covered in pans is just what life needs. Would you say this one avoids anything too mea...

Re: I wanna see that!!!!

I might just be way too sleep deprived for sanity, but now I'm imagining a "cute girls doing cute things" anime where they all have voices like Harvey Fierstein and 80-year-old smokers

Re: The author is dead, but is the performer?

The lyrics do leave room for the other interpretation. Not as much room, but still. For starters, the line "The answer is no" is followed by his refusal to take "no" for an answer, and people can make something of that. That's the part that I've seen the most people referring to as upsetting or tri...

Re: Petty annoyances

I know we talked before about how the guy on Love it or List it looks identical to Ayn Randian. Now that he's gone off the deep end I can't stand to watch the show. Of course there's a marathon on HGTV right now and I don't feel like changing the channel

Hand sewing is SO fucking tedious. Even fagot stitching sucks (not in the fun way when you think of that word, either). No wonder people invented sewing machines.

Re: It's not the size of the screen...

Fraiser was sort of the archetypal three-camera sitcom, with humor largely derived from setup-and-punchline, wordplay, high-brought-low, and absurdity, with occasional masterclasses in physical comedy by David Hyde Pierce. Its success owed a lot to the cast's ability to deliver their dialogue with ...

Re: It's not the size of the screen...

For me, cringe comedy means when one character is doing something super awkward/embarrassing/rude that the other characters are judging them for. So The Office is cringe comedy because a lot of the times when Michael is being an ass, the other characters are clearly sitting there thinking, "This guy...

Re: It's not the size of the screen...

All of season 1 is completely skippable, from what I remember. Just jump right to "The Fight" (S3E13) and if that grabs you then go back to S2E1. If that episode is not your cup of tea you probably won't like the series.

Re: It's not the size of the screen...

So, in keeping with my habit of discovering popular culture a decade after it goes by... Parks & Rec is pretty good. I gave up after 5 1/2 episodes. Watching Fraiser now, which is buh-rilliant. Season 1 or 2? Season 1 is not great, but Season 2 is when they figure out what they're doing. (Edited to...

Re: If We Build It, They'll Probably Still Come

I'm trying very hard not to pay attention to any of the news about the border or immigration lately because I am pretty sure my head will actually explode. But I've heard enough for my Christmas wish to be that somebody Lorena Bobbitts Trump's stupid mushroom dick.

I want to join a sew-along that an internet friend is doing and make a simple shirt, but digging out my sewing machine around my troublesome children is just asking for trouble. So I'm looking up hand-stitching for knit fabric and getting WAY too much amusement out of learning about the "fagot stitc...

Hate-watching House Hunters Renovation , which should really just be called "watching" it because I don't think there's anybody out there on this planet who watches House Hunters shows with anything but judgment in their heart. Current episode has a young DINK couple in Chicago who need to get out o...
