Off-topic but how long do you think until we have to stop saying "mom and pop stores" because it's too heteronormative?

Finishing a long project, beating a hard level in a video game, persuading someone successfully, cleaning the house?
Cleaning the house is FAKE NEWS. It gets messy again so fast that any sense of accomplishment is a lie.

From a DHSS Alaska brochure about WIC foods: "Why is peanut butter so good for me? ... It has plant fat instead of animal fat with has less CHORESTROYL"

I don't know why this is making me laugh so hard

Re: Ragequits

Haha! I once prompted my brother to ragequit a game of Risk because he was teaching me how to play it and I realized I was losing and that it was boring and so I started deliberately playing like crap in hopes of making it end faster. Also I can't imagine what I'd do if one of my siblings was cheati...

Ragequits

Seen on my local geek Facebook group: what video game(s) made you ragequit the most? For me, though I don't have a lot of gaming experience to draw from, the standout answer is still playing the drums on Rock Band. There will probably be a day when David and I can laugh about my epic ragequit tantru...

The president of the United States publicly announcing that he sides with a hostile foreign strongman over his own American advisers and intelligence officers actually is a newsworthy big deal. As is a POTUS who openly insults and despises the very notion of a free press The fact that a POTUS is do...

Confession: I actually don't know who Chuck Schumer is, except that the Drupal iteration of the boards had a thread (started by dhex, I believe) titled "Chuck Schumer's shittiness is transcendent" so when I hear his name I just think of that.

It seems like I've seen a lot of pearl-clutching from Trump haters, though. Unless I'm just noticing that more because it's on the brain, when really it's just one in an endless series of their pearl clutches for the week. I think it's because actually experiencing things like that press conference...

Re: the list of those things which are not food

What do they plan to call it instead? Almond water? They better not do what pretentious vegans do and spell it "mylk." I'll barf.

That reminds me of something I read last night that made me chuckle: "Coffee with soy milk is just bean water with bean water."

Maybe it's just because I already hated Trump so much, but I am a little baffled by all the outrage over his comments. Like, yeah, he's a bloated flaccid windbag who cares only for himself. He doesn't believe in justice or truth or democracy or America or anything like that. He only cares about hims...

Yes! His current routine is to hide in the basement (or wherever he's hiding -- I think it's the basement) until I take the kids to bed, then come out and be friendly when David comes home, and disappear again in the morning. I get it. I've met my kids. I don't blame him. Last night David slept down...
