Re: Towing the Lion

I had kind of glossed over that, since everything else on their menu has such goofy names (like "Chicken Fantastic" for chicken alfredo, and why does an African restaurant have chicken alfredo, I'd like to know).

Googled a bit and it's supposed to be "suqaar" (basically a Somali name for stir-fry).

Re: To Infinity War and Beyond: the MCU Thread with Spoilers

I have tried to watch Captain America: Civil War a number of times and just cannot get into it. Mainly what bugs me is that the central conflict between Captain America and Iron Man feels completely unnatural. It really feels to me like it should be the other way around. Steve Rogers being all, "Gov...

If Frozen isn’t art, it’s becsuse it’s a corporate consumer product, not because it’s political propaganda.
That's my take.
I don't see how either disqualifies it from being art.

Re: the list of those things which are not food

There are a few Facebook groups dedicated to vegan keto, and I've peeked into them, but the kookiness annoys me SO FAST, I can't bear it. Case in motherfucking point, I popped into one today, and within 3 posts was reading about how "vegetable oils are not keto friendly on any level" because "canol...

I also feel like there should be a bigger garlic presence on the original list, though that may be my love of garlic talking.

Although my favorite scene so far is when Jerry Seinfeld and Joel Hodgson are talking about ketchup bottles. I was cry-laughing by the end.

I've had 25-30 of the items on the list (there are some I'm not sure on). Quite a few I had to Google. I look askance at the inclusion of goulash and Pocky. And especially vodka Jell-O -- that's just dumb. I think there are waaaayyy better ice cream flavors than pistachio. The list needs some sort o...

The Omnivore's 100

I came across this list compiled in 2008 by a UK blog that appears to no longer exist -- their idea of "the hundred foods every omnivore should try before they die." I will paste the list below, and invite your commentary: the number of foods you have tried, and any that were particularly memorable ...

Steve Martin was a huge standup comedy star. I'm sure many of you are rolling your eyes at me for not knowing this sooner. But somehow I didn't! When he got on my radar he had already stopped doing standup and was acting in movies, so I thought he was famous for being an actor, and somehow never rea...

We've been bingeing Comedians in Cars Getting Coffee on Netflix and it is fantastic. Really genuinely funny, with very interesting observations about the comedy business and life in general.

Steve Harvey is not just hilarious, but surprisingly savage!
