I'm spending the evening chugging Franzia box white wine, eating a huge bag of Cheeto Puffs, and watching Kong: Skull Island.

Re: To Infinity War and Beyond: the MCU Thread with Spoilers

Finally saw Black Panther . If we were real woke white people we would have seen it earlier, I suppose. It was ... fine. I liked that it wasn't an origin story or a "look at my suit's cool powers" movie, as we have had plenty of those, but I don't know how well what it actually was worked for me. Ki...

Re: Thar's Silicon In Them Thar Hills - Westworld w/ spoilers

It was the three separate timelines that were baffling me, and that were cleared up in the season finale: pre park opening with alive Arnold, when Dolores murders all the hosts; adventures with young William, when the town is buried in sand and just the church steeple is visible; and the escapades o...

Re: Dreams (not those crushed by the weight of unfulfilled life)

I got a one-week free trial to HBO shows on Amazon Prime, so I've been bingeing on Westworld , and having vivid dreams about it every night, but not at all the ones you'd expect. Like, in one, I went to a Westworld restaurant, and the menu had "Fruit Salad" which was described as "Banana ice cream s...

Re: Powerful Mice in Space (The New Star Wars Gripe Thread)

It only worked in TLJ because the ship they hit was so huge, it couldn't move fast enough to prevent the cruiser from calculating a hyperspace course that would hit. I think there's a bit of dialogue where the captain of the bad guy ship* specifically says to another crewman to ignore Laura Dern's ...

I found the first season of Legends of Tomorrow absolutely unwatchable, which bummed me out as I like Flash and Supergirl which are in the same universe and share some characters. ( Arrow takes itself waaaaayyyy too seriously so I have never gotten into that one.) Second season had some good moments...

They also use Oriental. I've also heard Oriental used in the classic term, which was referring to the Near/Mid East. I have never figured out why or how Americans started using Oriental to refer to things East Asian. I had it drilled into my head that "Oriental is for rugs, Asian is for people." (I...
