Re: The "Historically Rich" game

My banker wants to know where you all are buying all these 600 dollar cows. I reckon I'd go to the hardware store and load up on tools and hardware. A box of hinges ought to make you rich. Serious question: do you know what it would cost for an American today to buy a healthy young cow with several...

Re: Silicon Valley Disrupts Its Own Ass

I was hoping the plan was going to be re-fueling *while driving*, a la in-flight airplane fuel tankers. My other dream is to be able to order McDonalds from the freeway, and have the delivery car drive up alongside, everyone rolls down their windows, and they hand it over at speed, won't need to ex...

Ooh, that's a good'un. If you liked that one, you might also enjoy "Almost was Good Enough" from the same album. It has the same Neil Young & Crazy Horse vibe and seamlessly incorporates some parts of Neil's "On the Weekend." The whole album is solid, but "Such Pretty Eyes for a Snake" and "Almost ...

I'm thinking I need to take a social media and maybe even Grylliade break for a while due to so many people sharing stories about little immigrant kids in detention centers. I'm glad people are talking about it and raising awareness and ire, and I hope it leads to actual change. Right now I just fe...

I was listening to a bunch of Dead prior to listening to the Slobberbone track that Tuco posted in the alt country thread. This caused YT to recommend the following song, and the algorithm really nailed it:

I think that risk aversion, fear of variance, comfort with status quo collectively determine the paths of modern civilizations. I think this effect becomes dominant very soon after "i'm not worried about starving to death", and I think it portends the end of growth. It's one of my theories that peo...

Joe has been kicking for like 6 months in a way unlike anything we'd seen before. We had to pull him out of his stall because he'd damage it. First pass was we found ulcers and treated those, but the behavior persisted, then progressed into the field not just when we tried the stall. Not angry ears...

You know how in Huckleberry Finn, there's that mob that shows up to lynch that old man and he stands them off, saying all a lynch mob needs is a bunch of nobodies and one man at the head? And that particular bunch had found them a half-man and to g'wan, git and come back with a real man? Well, that'...
