Re: It doesn't matter if you're black or white

It started as "You won't replace us," then "Jews won't replace us."

It's a pun?

Re: A Game of ... THEY KILLED WHO?!?!? (hbo spoilers)

Then why did she stop in the Riverlands and then head for Cersei? Why would the Terminator Waif act all conflicted at the Inn of the Crossroads, considering Jon is her target? It's a cool idea, but the show doesn't have the balls to do something like that with one of its most popular characters. Mar...

I didn't mean to sound flippant. I assume it's cited because it could have been fatal or severely debilitating. But, it wasn't.

Was Lorenz's attacker antifa?

Re: Orange is the new President

https://twitter.com/iowahawkblog/status/897573655315718144 This has been getting to me too. The H&R threads are depressing. I'm with the SJWs on this one- there is no moral equivalence between literal white supremacists/neo-nazis/whatever you want to split hairs about calling them/ and people who ar...

Re: Orange is the new President

The amount of "but antifa!" going around is a little shocking to me. I guess I still thought that, when you have a death in an attempted mass murder, all but the most loyal partisans would take a breath and say, "Shit, that's awful. This is plain bad." And that's ignoring the context of a rally by l...

I will say it strikes me as absurd that he doesn't mention one of the easiest, most popular, and most accessible ways of choosing aimless contemplation over utility, namely drugs. Hallucinogens in particular are a massive blind spot of the column. He also pretty much leaves out meditation, and by d...

Does "people" in the bolded sentence mean "many people," "some people," "all people"? That's the part I can't get past. He's "a practical philosopher, [who] speaks daily with individuals from Silicon Valley to Scandinavia about their obsessions with work—obsessions that, by their own accounts, are ...

Re: Orange is the new President

52% of Republicans would be OK with Trump postponing the 2020 election. There is a bit of framing going on: If Donald Trump were to say that the 2020 presidential election should be postponed until the country can make sure that only eligible American citizens can vote, would you support or...

I'm guessing that refers to the blogger that tried to get the book pulled and brags about the number of page views she gets, but declined an interview (too scary!). More like THEY DIDN'T KILL WHO?!?!

I like Bronn, but he should have died tonight. They better have something good planned for him.

And good directing from the guy who does most of the It's Always Sunny episodes.

Re: Is that really Brian Doherty?

I'm pretty sure Doherty as commented before as "Brian Doherty," and I think "Brian" has been around for a while. It is strange that Brian's link is to reason.com, but he just said "Smooches, baby" to Tony, so unless Doherty is on some good bud this week, I'd say two different people.

Re: A Game of ... THEY KILLED WHO?!?!? (hbo spoilers)

Agreed with Jennifer. It's the right move to cut out the whole battle or siege and get to the dramatic bits, but the way it's cut makes it look like Olenna sees the army approaching, then Jaime strolls right into the city. She's wearing the same clothing and the lighting does not noticeably change, ...

Re: The F Word

It's not self-policing when you police others. I'm amused that adherents to a political philosophy based on individuals thinking their own free thoughts would want to legitimize ideological policing of any kind. Maybe we should let people say what they want, challenge their words with our own, and ...

"any negative consequences" is far from "ruining him." And now RTing is "smear[ing] him." Sobczak intended negative consequences in his tweet and facebook post, and ENB (and others) intended negative consequences when they criticized him. Sobczak's behavior is characterized as a joke or merely expre...

You know, I think there's a BIG difference between saying "He shouldn't be able to work" and saying "Employers should know about who this guy is." For some employers, yeah that will be the same thing. But for a lot of employers, it's not. Exactly. Some might see that as practically the same thing, ...

53% of households shopping at Amazon regularly is a lot. I can't think of a single entity that can boast that. "Some 95 percent of U.S. consumers shopped at one of Wal-Mart's 4,700 stores or on its website in 2016" . And "despite accounting for more than half of the growth in online spending last y...

Cosign that they really need a knowledgeable non-interventionist that doesn't just argue from a strict, simple principle. I haven't actually read his work, but Chris Coyne at GMU looks to be in that niche. And jumping off nicole's comment here , it was funny that one of the first things Lake said wa...

Whaaaaat? Wokieleaks is [former commenter with the username] Irish? Kudos to him, being too hot for Twitter to handle. Though he shares that distinction with Milo, so ugh.
