Re: Net Neutrality

Go back to work to craft regulation that permits targeted action without requiring the rest of title 2. A big problem I have with all this is that Congress could just make a freakin' law authorizing these regulations. If the critics are right that today's decision is hugely unpopular and spells doo...

Re: Just the Tax

Whatever benefit there might be to handwriting the final amendments, it seems like a short-term gain for a long-term embarrassment. After all, what they passed is not the bill. It still has to go through reconciliation and then sent to Trump. If those amendments survive, they will be typed up and se...

Re: Thanksgiving: the most delicious time of the year

I join the newly formed coalition. I can tolerate a bit of certain sweet potatoes cooked in a certain way, but forkfuls of the stuff... blech. Mushing it up with marshmallows sounds like the definition of abomination. My holiday meal duty is usually dessert. I've gotten to a good place with pumpkin ...

Oh, I've been down that path. Pretty much have to pay what they say, knowing the price will never drop and sales are rare and minor, or else go third-party.

Good point, but you can remove bulletpoint from the description; hypothesis is that he was using a list function and paying no attention to the dates. Bulletpoints could be formatted in later. Auto-format has to be the culprit at some stage, combined with complete negligence by the writer and editor...

Re: Op-ediots

Wokieleaks speculates that the writer created a bulletpoint list with auto-formatting in Word, and didn't even bother entering dates, which is why the years are sequential. 'Cause while the 1797 date is funny, all of the dates after France are obviously wrong.

Re: Silicon Valley Disrupts Its Own Ass

I get that there exists the SV attitude of, "using technology to accomplish this mundane task is revolutionary!" But at this point it seems like the joke has overtaken the reality. If a start-up puts out a press release announcing their service, they're immediately mocked as claiming their one produ...

Re: Orange is the new President

I'm sure Trump has something to do with the numbers, but five years is a long time. And the 2016 poll was conducted a couple weeks before a presidential election (not the case in 2011), and I assume they decided to poll this question again in response to pussygate (poll results dated Oct 19). So the...

Re: Silicon Valley Disrupts Its Own Ass

How much of this is complaining about what these guys actually said in pitching their little idea, and how much of it is spin by Internet media or your own assumptions of how SV dudebros think? The owner of a business said he hoped his business would be really, really successful and become the stand...

When Obama was in office, only 30% of white evangelicals would forgive a president's immoral behavior. Now it's 72%.
Both numbers are from when Obama was in office.

Watching the first episode of Bob's Burgers confirms my inclination to not have watched it sooner. How can anyone tolerate the voice of someone like the Linda character for any amount of time is beyond me. Plus, not generally entertaining. I plowed through the whole first season. It doesn't get bet...

Chelsea's twitter account sways me to the charge that she's mentally ill. I start to think that's an irrational response, then I see another tweet... I though she might've had something interesting to say about civil rights. More proof that Snowden > Manning. Those Dune memes are why Twitter exists.

Yeah, I should've figured that would happen. Now I have to go to - ugh - twitchy. Im not a scientist. Yeah, that moment in the police station was hilariously wrong. Unless Matt was actually going to walk through the door. But he didn't, so why wouldn't Claire break the news to her friend Foggy? Or use it as an opportunity to signify that the Defenders became a team, as the three come together to com...

Re: A Game of ... THEY KILLED WHO?!?!? (hbo spoilers)

Then why did she stop in the Riverlands and then head for Cersei? Why would the Terminator Waif act all conflicted at the Inn of the Crossroads, considering Jon is her target? It's a cool idea, but the show doesn't have the balls to do something like that with one of its most popular characters. Mar...
