Re: If We Build It, They'll Probably Still Come

Not that I support this in anyway but haven't they been doing this for the last 10-15 years?

Re: The Not-So- and All-Too-Real World of North Korea

My read on Trump is he treats those he perceives as threats and rivals with cordiality while treating those as less so with disdain. It's all part of that "Art of the Deal" crap he seems to live for. He knows he has leverage on Canada and Mexico so uses it every chance he gets to get the "best" deal...

Re: Video Games!

Just in case people had not heard Dark Souls: Remastered came out a little while ago. Vets won't get much from it other than some quality of life changes but those new to it at least won't have to run mods just to make it playable. I understand they even added solid KBAM support so the controller de...

Re: Orange is the new President

It should be well established now that Trump just likes to spontaneously say stuff because he thinks it sounds good to him (often much to the surprise of his own administration). We'll have to wait to see what actually happens later. Also I wouldn't put too much into a missed joint exercise. We've b...

Re: Video Games!

While the median version of single person RPG isn't all that great, my all time games list is dominated by them. Witcher 3, Mass Effect 2, Dragon Age Origins, Skyrim (okay less narrative but still), Divinity OS 2, Fallout 2 and 3 (New Vegas), and on and on. The problem with Fallout is that it's pac...

New cyberpunk 2077 trailer is neato.
Same guys that did the Witcher series. So I have faith that this will be pretty good (although you may want to wait a month or two when it's released so they can iron out the launch bugs).

Re: Market Failure!

And none of this is the point. I want someone to make it easy for me so that when I'm a dumbass and have no idea how long ago I put it in the oven, I can push a button and find out what to set my timer for so my pizza doesn't come out either burned or still frozen in the middle. If you're so smart ...

Re: Occam, Trump, and Russia

What the campaigns (the successful ones) spend money on is voter turnout. The stuff the russian trolls put out wouldn't have had any noticible effect given that they were dwarfed by the emourmous amount of other efforts out there. Releasing the email nonsense didn't suddenly change people's opinion...

Re: Occam, Trump, and Russia

If he, or anyone else in this mess, did something criminal I hope they go to jail for a long time. Manafort and his associates are serious sleazebags. Again though, what effect did this have on the rest of the country? I'm not seeing any indication the administration is in Russia's pocket or even de...

Re: Video Games!

This is only kind of tangentially video-game related and really more of a speech and culture issue, but I thought I'd put it here... The flap over Valve's content-regulation policy on Steam is producing some interesting discussions , but also a lot of crap, and it's really bringing out the fascist ...

Re: Occam, Trump, and Russia

Ppresidential polls are known to have a serious degree of inaccuracy in the modern age that still hasn't adequately been dealt with. As other people have noted, the polls in this case were not inaccurate. They averaged out to about a 2% lead for Clinton, which is about the margin by which she won t...

Re: Occam, Trump, and Russia

What was the practical effect of all of that though? A few thousand idiots here, a few thousand idiots there? That's not going to swing elections or change any policies. You're kidding, right? 65,000 votes across three states highly targeted by Russians, and we have a different President. "Targeted...

Re: Occam, Trump, and Russia

I'm not saying that Putin is an 11-dimensional chessmaster. I'm just noting that Russians have a lot of success whenever they come to America looking for idiots that they can use. The Russian intelligence services seem to be good at training people to identify and manipulate America's idiots across...

Re: Occam, Trump, and Russia

Putin wants to cause internal divisions in rival countries so a unified response by that country is harder to accomplish. He does this by flinging shit around until something sticks. There is no grand plan of Putin's. The idea he's some master manipulator is nonsense. He doesn't need to actually col...
