Re: I just don't get it

I also feel like there's a large overlap between people who fap over the royal wedding and people who bitch about American society paying too much attention to Paris Hilton and Kim Kardashian and other "famous for being famous" rich people. I feel like that makes sense though because the point is t...

It’s just such an obvious fashion mistake. Those tops are going to be worthless in a year and everyone will be embarrassed about the Facebook pics.

Also seriously they look terrible on almost everyone.

Libya is arguably the greatest foreign policy mistake that Clinton and Obama made, if you think about the long-term implications. So it is sadly appropriate that he would have no idea what it means.
No, that's what he thinks it means.

It actually means Libyan disarmament.

Re: Worthwhile intertubez finds

The actual answer is that WYSIWYG word processing is terrible. I type two spaces after a period, to signal that I'm ending a sentence. Then my document compiler takes that information into account when it decides the correct amount of spacing to put there. Hell, that's happening right now. There we...

You may be aware of Michael Pollan's forthcoming book on psychedelic research. Excerpt is not bad https://lithub.com/how-psilocybin-could ... treatment/

I mean, it's good except like, well, yeah, that's what trips are like and obviously why everyone should take them.

Re: Gentry from the block

Maybe. I doubt it. For example, we are starting to see anti-gentrification activism heat up in Chicago in a serious way. About 100 precincts in the last primary election had questions on the ballot gauging interest in a rent-control referendum later this year, along with other stuff I have posted ab...

FWIW I mentioned the Damore lawsuit not because of Damore or his memo but because of Exhibit B, starting on page 73: https://www.scribd.com/embeds/368688363/content?start_page=1&view_mode=scroll&access_key=key-2r1RoydNJxAo0FaMRdsf&show_recommendations=true%E2%80%9D%20width=%E2%80%9D100%%E2%80%9D%20h...

Kind of a random one to start the thread with, but it seems to be coming up more, so...anyway. AT A RECENT DISCUSSION at the CUNY Graduate Center with the writer Chris Kraus, the first question came from a protestor. Kraus was there to talk about After Kathy Acker, her excellent new biography of pos...

This was my reaction to the James Damore lawsuit filing. Why on earth did you let your workplace descend into a sportsbar comments section.

Re: What up, Sasha?

Does anyone know if Slavic languages rhyme or alliterate in verse? For instance, English rhymes by matching the ending sound, and Germanic languages used alliteration on the first syllable in the same way (at least historically, for instance Beowulf is apparently consistently alliterated in the ori...

Haha I thought this was a thread about my sister for a minute.

We do do the same thing, though, right, because sometimes she also goes by "Sandy." (I assume our Sandy is in a similar position.)
